Samsung Launches Galaxy A9 (2018) with Four Rear Cameras & 6.3″ sAMOLED Display

The Samsung Galaxy A9 with the quad camera setup has been in the leaks from the last few months. Today, the company has finally launched the all-new Galaxy A9 (2018) as the world’s first smartphone with quad camera setup on the rear. The device sports aluminum body with the 3D curved back body. It will be available in Caviar Black, Lemonade Blue and Bubblegum Pink color options with gradient finish. It runs on Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box with Samsung Experience skin on top.

Talking about the specifications, the Galaxy A9 (2018) sports a 6.3” Super AMOLED display with Full HD+ (1080 x 2220 pixels) resolution. Under the hood is the unspecified octa-core processor clocked at 2.2GHz. The device comes in 6GB and 8GB RAM variants with 512GB of internal storage. With the MicroSD card slot, the Galaxy A9 users can further expand up to 512GB. Coming to the cameras, the Galaxy A9 (2018) sports a 24MP front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture.

Talking about the quad camera setup on the rear, the device sports a 24MP primary sensor with f/1.7, a 10MP telephoto sensor with f/2.4, an 8MP ultra wide-angle sensor with f/2.4 aperture, and finally a 5MP depth sensor with f/2.2 aperture. With all these four rear cameras, the device can capture photos with 2x optical zoom, 120-degree wide-angle view, and perfect bokeh shot. Samsung is also including AI Scene Recognition for identifying the subject and adjusting settings instantly for a better photo.

It measures 162.5 x 77 x 7.8 mm and weighs 183 grams. The device is backed by a 3,800mAh non-removable battery and support adaptive fast charging. Unlike the recently launched Galaxy A7, the new Galaxy A9 still sports a rear-facing fingerprint sensor. Connectivity options include Cat.9 LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (2.4/5GHz), Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, NFC, and USB Type-C port. The Galaxy A9 (2018) also supports Bixby, Samsung Pay and Samsung Health apps as seen on other high-end Galaxy devices.

While the power button and volume rocker are placed on the right edge, the dedicated Bixby button is placed on the left edge. The Samsung Galaxy A9 (2018) will be available starting next month.
