Samsung Galaxy S9 – 5 Important Features expected when it launches in 2018

Published

on

Samsung just recently launched the Galaxy S8 and the S8 Plus in most markets and the word on the streets is that the company is doing a commendable job when it comes to sales of these devices. While the hype surrounding the current Galaxy smartphone is still around, we now have started seeing some new reports about the next Galaxy S smartphone which is going to be the Galaxy S9. Yes, you read that right, we are now looking at some of the rumors about the next Galaxy smartphone already.

Name

Well, not much is known exactly as of now since we don’t really have a proper source with some firm evidence. However, taking a look at the existing rumors, it looks the next Galaxy S smartphone will indeed be called the Galaxy S9 and apparently, the codename for the same is ‘Star’. And it looks like we will also be getting a Plus sized variant just like we did this year and the bigger brother is codenamed ‘Star 2’. As far as the development of this new Galaxy is concerned, it looks like it started a few months earlier and this could be due to the fact that we might be getting some new features such as a dual camera setup, better battery, etc.

Faster CPU

One of the things which change with each and every Galaxy smartphone is the internal CPU which powers the device. This year, we got the Snapdragon 835 SoC, which the company manufactured in-house. And if the rumors are something to be believed, then the next variant will be getting the Snapdragon 845 SoC and apparently, Samsung will be the one making those as well. And just like every year, we should also be seeing an Exynos variant for markets outside the U.S.

More Memory

As we all know that the Galaxy S8 and the S8 Plus only comes with 4GB of RAM, it is expected that the successor will pack more memory. 4GB is not less and it is fairly adequate, but it is always good to have more memory in hand rather than falling short. And given the fact that there are a lot of smartphones in the market with 6GB RAM already, it is time that Samsung also steps up their game.

Camera

While it is not confirmed yet, we should also be seeing some improvements on the camera side. This year also we got more or less an identical camera to that of the S7 smartphone and hence it could use an improvement. Word on the streets is that it will have a Sony 20.1MP Camera Sensor, but we will have to see what we eventually end up getting.

Design changes & better battery

We should also see some changes in terms of the design. The current design is stunning, but it is worth noting that it is fragile and we can definitely get used to a more rugged design. Also, we won’t be surprised f the company packs more battery. We are expecting the company to change the design a little and pack more battery inside since the battery life is where the S8 falls back. As mentioned multiple times, non of this info is confirmed and all these are just an initial set of rumors. However, we would like to know your thoughts on this. What are the new features which you are looking forward to on the next Galaxy S smartphone and why? Be sure to let us know and also stay tuned to PhoneRadar for more info like this.
