Samsung has officially announced the Galaxy J3 (2016) in November last year and is already available for sale in China and the U.S. As teasers suggested, the company has officially launched the device today here in India at a price of Rs. 8,990. After launching the flagships Galaxy S7 & S7 Edge, now the company is looking at the budget range smartphone. This week the company also launched the Galaxy J5 (2016) & J7 (2016) smartphones as the successors for Galaxy J5 & J7 in China.
The device sports entry-level specifications and comes with a plastic back cover with chrome finished frame. It features a 5-inch HD (1280 x 720 pixels) resolution Super AMOLED display. Under the hood is the Spreadtrum SC7731 quad-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz and has 1.5GB of RAM. There is 8GB of internal storage along with a MicroSD card slot for further expanding of storage.
In the camera department, the J3 (2016) features an 8MP rear camera with LED flash and autofocus; and a 5MP front camera for selfies. While the device launched in the U.S came with a 5MP rear camera and a 2MP front camera. The device is backed by a 2,600mAh battery that can easily last more than a day of usage with this entry-level specs. It runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop with the customized TouchWiz UI overlaid.
The device comes with dual SIM dual standby and offers 4G LTE only on one SIM. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, GPS, NFC, and a MicroUSB 2.0 port. The company also introduced the S Bike Mode, for hands-free usage of the device while riding a bike. With the provided NFC Tag, the users can easily activate and deactivate the S Bike mode with just a tap.
The incoming calls will be replied with a pre-recorded message while the S Bike mode activated and the urgent calls can be notified when the user at the other end press 1. At this price, this is one of the best devices for bikers and it also sports a Super AMOLED display. It will be exclusively available through Snapdeal starting from 31 march 2016.
