Last year, Samsung unveiled the new Galaxy On & Galaxy J series smartphones for selling the affordable smartphones. Most of the smartphones under this series are only limited to emerging markets like China and India. In the first half of 2016, Samsung launched two new smartphones under the Galaxy C series called Galaxy C5 and Galaxy C7. Till date both the devices are limited to the Chinese market. At the time of launch, these are also the most affordable metal build smartphones from Samsung. Today, the company has posted a teaser image on Weibo suggesting the launch of a new smartphone.

From the teaser image, we expect the device to launch is the Galaxy C9 (SM-C9000). It will be the third device in the Galaxy C series next to the Galaxy C5 & C7. The design of the device from the image looks similar to the earlier launched Galaxy C devices. The power button can be found on the right edge of the device. It will sport unibody design built out of metal. Though there is no official confirmation over the specifications of the device, but they are unofficially confirmed by various benchmark tests. The Galaxy Note 7 was expected to launch with 6GB of RAM at least in China, but it didn’t happen.

The GFXbench revealed the device to feature 6GB of RAM which makes it compete against several other 6GB RAM smartphones in China. OnePlus 3 is the only smartphone with 6GB of RAM that is available globally. Talking about the other specifications of the Galaxy C9, it sports a 6-inch Super AMOLED display with Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution. It is expected to come powered by Snapdragon 652 octa-core processor coupled with Adreno 510 GPU and 6GB of RAM. It also packs 64GB of internal storage along with a MicroSD card slot for storage expansion.

On the camera front, the device is said to offer 16MP camera on front and back of the device. The launch of this new device comes during the explosions of the safer Galaxy Note 7 devices. Most of the U.S carriers have halted the sales and the company is also said to stop the production of the device. While the Galaxy Note 7 may not continue the success of the Galaxy S7 & Galaxy S7 Edge, Samsung might make the Galaxy C series available outside of China with the launch of Galaxy C9. Today’s other rumor mentioned the Galaxy S8 to launch on February 26th at the MWC 2017.

Earlier this month, the company launched the mid-range Galaxy On8 smartphone in India. The device is priced at Rs. 15,900 and comes powered by 1.6GHz Exynos 7580 octa-core processor. It sports a 5.5-inch Full HD display on the front. It also includes 3GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage that can be expanded additionally upto 128GB. There is a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP front camera for selfies. The Galaxy On 8 supports dual SIM and offers 4G VoLTE for Jio 4G SIM support. It is backed by a 3,300mAh battery that can give at least a day of usage. As of now, the Galaxy On8 is exclusively sold through Flipkart in India.
