Samsung Foldable Display Smartphone SM-G929F to Launch in Jan at CES

Samsung is known for showcasing innovation on their smartphones; every year company announces two flagship lineups; S and Note Series. From last two years, we have seen some interesting piece of technology from the South Korean giant. The single Edge display on Galaxy Note Edge and Dual Edge display on Galaxy S6 Edge and S6 Edge+ were some of the interesting handsets that went commercial for consumers.
The rumour mill has been hearing lot about foldable display smartphones, one such report has now popped up online from Sammobile. The report states that company is indeed working on a smartphone with a foldable display. The device is dubbed as Project Valley, which could be announced next year sometime in January. Samsung released their S6 Edge+ smartphone recently with the Note 5 announcement. The dual-edge display smartphone have a model number SM-G928, which comes in precedence to the model number of rumored foldable smartphone, that is, SM-G929.
That’s one of the reasons why it should be expected to come with similar specifications like the S6 Edge+. Another one is that S6 Edge+ might be the last smartphone from company to sports curve display, because the appeal of such displays is not there in the market. The foldable display smartphone makes sense because they could allow us to carry a 12-inch display in our pockets in the form of around 6-inch display. Isn’t that an interesting way to carry large smartphones conveniently? Yes, it is.
Though, Samsung hasn’t claimed any of it publicly yet, but we expect the company to announce this foldable smartphone sometime during CES Week next year in January. The idea is very ambitious, but company is trying to bring this technology into production for different countries like the UK, Germany, Italy, Poland, France, South Korea and Nordic countries.
It is notable that the United States and Asian countries are missing not in the list, but it’s possible that Samsung would bring this device to few other countries later on. It is still early stage, but we hope that few more details would pop for this foldable smartphone from Samsung.
Though, note that Samsung is not the only one doing innovations in the smartphone market. The other South Korean giant, LG has also done some interesting works in this field such as the LG G Flex and LG G Flex 2 smartphones. These two smartphones from company hold curved display that is very much the first step in foldable displays. No, we only hope that LG is also working on such foldable smartphone. Although, if you aren’t aware company recently announced a smartphone with the second screen on the front in the form of LG V10.
As for the specifications of the device, it is too early to tell, but the rumours suggests that device is currently under testing with Snapdragon 620 processor and Snapdragon 820 processor. It would supposedly come with a 3GB of RAM, non-removable battery and a MicroSD card slot. Earlier there were leaks suggesting that Samsung is the first manufacturer to test the Snapdragon 820 chipset and the upcoming Galaxy S7 might also be launched in two variants. One variant is powered by Exynos 8890 Soc and the other with Snapdragon 820 processor.
