Realme India has launched its much-awaited Realme 5 series smartphones in the country. These are the first quad rear cameras phones introduced by Realme, and the company has unveiled two phones under its new series including — the Realme 5 and the Realme 5 Pro smartphones. The Realme 5 launched in the country starts at Rs 9,999 for the base 3GB+32GB variant and the 4GB+64GB variant is priced at Rs 10,999 and lastly, the 4GB+128GB variant is priced at Rs 11,999. The Realme 5 Pro will be available in Crystal Purple and Crystal Blue color variants.
Digging into the deets, the Realme 5 comes with a 6.5-inch HD+ display, which has dewdrop notch, and the company is calling it ‘Mini drop’ design. The screen achieves a screen-to-body-ratio of 89% that further comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 3+ protection. This display is enclosed in a 3D body design, which comes with the company’s traditional diamond-cut design on the back. The Realme 5 is also said to be coming with Splash-resistant design, which includes saying of SIM card slot, battery cover and other component connectors, which claims to be saving the phone from sprinkles of water.
Since these are the first quad rear camera phones from Realme, the Realme 5 comes with four AI-powered cameras comprising of a 12MP primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture that supports PDAF and EIS Image Stabilisation. The primary 12MP sensor is backed with an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera with an aperture of f/2.25, capable of capturing a 119-degree field of view. While the ultra-wide-angle lens of the Realme 5 is the same as that featured in Realme 5 Pro, the device also shares the other two lenses from the Pro variant as well. These include the 2MP Macro lens with f/2.4 aperture with 4cm Focus Distance and a 2MP Portrait lens with an aperture of f/2.4 as well.
The rear cameras for the Realme 5 additionally feature HDR, Nightscape and Chrome Boost modes and further can capture 4K videos at 30fps along with Slo-Mo recording too. On the front, the Realme 5 comes with 13MP AI-powered selfie shooter, which comes with shooting modes including — AI Beautification, HDR, Panoramic View, and Time-lapse.
Digging into further details, under the hood, the Realme 5 comes with the latest Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 665 AIE processor built on 11nm process, which delivers clock speeds of upto 2.0GHz. It is further equipped with Adreno 610 GPU. In terms of storage, as suggested earlier, the device comes with 3/4GB of RAM and 32/64/128GB of onboard storage, which can further be expanded for upto 256GB via microSD. The Realme 5 also surprises with a massive 5000mAh battery unlike the Pro variant, which came with a 4000mAh battery. Additionally, the Realme 5 features Dirac Power Sound small speaker developed by Realme with Dirac Research AB, which promises to deliver more transparent, natural, and balanced sound.
On the connectivity front, the Realme 5 supports Bluetooth 5.0, dual-band Wi-Fi, Dual VoLTE, OTG, micro USB, and a 3.5mm headphone jack as well. The device also features a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor for authentication. And, the Realme 5 ships with ColorOS 6 out-of-the-box, which is Android 9.0 Pie-based. The Realme 5 launched in the country will be available on Flipkart and Realme website. The company has also promised the devices to go on offline sale sometime soon.
