Qualcomm is one of the leading chipset manufacturers in the industry and their Snapdragon Chipsets are running the show on a huge chunk of smartphones. You are probably reading this article in one of those smartphones powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. Now talking about the company’s latest offerings, the Snapdragon 821 is now being offered by the company and it is powering some of the new smartphones like the Galaxy Note 7 and Xiaomi Mi5s etc. But when you talk about their latest chipset offerings, it is reported that the company will be launching the new Snapdragon 830.

According to the new reports which we have, the new snapdragon 830 chipsets which go by MSM8998, appeared in a number of listings on India’s Zauba website. If you don’t know what it is, this is the where import and export details are tracked. It is listed as the Snapdragon 830 chipset is shipped into India from the US. This chipset was installed inside a prototype with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. So it like the processor is now being tested in India. Although we think that it should be named as snapdragon 830, there are some reports which state that it would be named snapdragon 835 instead.

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 830 SoC to be manufactured by Samsung on a 10nm process

However, these are just rumours and we don’t have any confirmation on this as of now. And talking about rumours, it is expected that the Samsung Galaxy S8 smartphone will be powered by this latest snapdragon 830 chipsets and Samsung will be exclusively manufacturing them. So we just have to wait and see what we get here. Now coming back to the Zauba listing, the value of the each shipment is listed as $1,541. And it has also been reported that a total of 80 units were delivered in India from September 12 through the month of October i.e. October 6th.

So now that we are seeing that these chipsets are being tested, we can expect the company to launch them soon and maybe by the end of this year or by the early next year, we might as well see some new devices being powered by this chipset. The first smartphone to be powered by this chipset is expected to be the Galaxy S8 smartphone as mentioned earlier. And as far as the launch of the Galaxy S8 is concerned, we might be seeing the device for the first time on Feb 26th. So maybe that could be the date when we will be seeing the new Snapdragon 830 chipset as well. Stay tuned for more details on this soon.
