Portronics, known for its electronics accessories in India, has launched their first wearable in the form of a smart band, YOGG. The first wearable from the company is a fitness tracker that promises a 24 x 7 health data analysis. Priced at minimal Rs 2999, it comes in the category of the affordable fitness tracker. Currently, the list is dominated by Xiaomi’s Mi Band and other wearables like Misfit and GOQii Band.
Offering more bangs for the buck, the YOGG promises a wide range of features to keep track of your fitness regime. Sporting an OLED display screen of 0.9-inch that’ll show the daily stats like calories burnt, steps were taken, as well as it would serve the purpose of showcasing caller ID for your smartphone. Furthermore, it can also act as a beeper for calls and notification from social sites that are installed on your smartphone.
The smart band from Portronics is built-in superior Anti-theft/lost feature that would give you an alarm beep when configured with your smartphone. It’s helpful in case your phone is stolen; the alarm will go off if the distance between smart band and smartphone is more than 10m. Since, the connectivity is via Bluetooth.
It also monitors the depth of sleep as it will let you know about the quality of sleep you’re getting. Based on your overall health data the band is capable of offering you feedback about your sleep and fitness. Comfortable to wear, the strap is made of soft plastic material that can be worn on the wrist without worrying it would leave marks. It is currently available only in one color; Black. We hope to see more strap options in future.
To sync the data, you have to download the proprietary app from Google Play Store or Apple App Store, based on which device you have. The brand claims that it would offer up to 5 days of battery life if you’re using it continuously for 24/ 7. Since, it comes with a display; such battery life can be understandable.
But if you’re looking for more battery life from a fitness tracker, then we suggest you go with Xiaomi Mi Band. Meanwhile, the Chinese Internet giant has also released an upgraded version, Mi Band Pulse for the similar pricing of 99 Yuan. Although, it is not known when that would be available in India.
