Oukitel U6 with Dual Displays Launched, Pre-Orders Started for $240

Have you ever heard of Yotaphones? If not, this devices will feature dual display, a normal touchscreen on the front and an E-ink display on the back. Though this is an all-new feature on a smartphone, it’s not that popular because of the heavy price tag of the Yotaphones. Oukitel, a Chinese smartphone manufacturer, came up with this feature on their latest ‘Oukitel U6’ smartphone. While the Yotaphone 2 costs around $600, the Oukitel U6 is priced at just $240.

The design of the device looks similar to the iPhone 6. This device is also rumored to feature upcoming Helio X20 deca-core processor, but that will be launched with the ‘Oukitel U6 Pro.’ The device sports a 5-inch HD (1280×720) display on the front while on the rear it has a 4.7-inch E-ink display with a resolution of 960×540 and a pixel density of 235ppi.

The E-ink display can be used for reading e-books, watching photos and many more. The best part is that it uses less power than the normal LCD or IPS displays. With the backlight on the E-ink display, you can read the e-book for long times without affecting your eyes.

You can turn your music player on to the E-ink display and turn of the main display. The photos from the gallery can be set as a back cover on the E-ink display. As per the company, there are developers will bring more features to connect the apps with both front and back display.

It is powered by a 64-bit MediaTek MTK6735 quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz coupled with Mali-T720 GPU and 2GB of RAM. There is 16GB of internal storage along with a microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 64GB.

Coming to the cameras, it sports a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP front camera for selfies. The device supports dual SIM dual standby and offers 4G LTE connectivity on both the SIM’s. It runs Android 5.1 Lollipop out-of-the-box.

Along with 4G LTE, Connectivity on this device includes Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS/A-GPS, and microUSB 2.0. The device comes with a battery of 2,100mAh capacity that can give 120hours reading time on E-ink display and 120-180 hours standby time.

The device measures 142.2 x 69.8 x 8.7 mm and weighs 194 grams. It has an IR Blaster on the top that can be used as a remote controller for controlling TV, Air Conditioner, DVD Player and other electronics.

The device is now available to pre-order internationally for $239.99 along with free shipping, and the shipping starts from September. There is no information on pricing and availability of the Oukitel U6 Pro. As of the device in available in Gold+White color.
