OPPO brings its flagship OPPO Reno with 5G capabilities in China at MWC Shangai 2019. The Chinese smartphone manufacturer had earlier debuted its OPPO Reno series in India, China, and Europe, last month. The company has launched its first 5G capable OPPO Reno now in China. The 5G powered Reno carries the same specifications as of OPPO Reno 10x Zoom launched earlier, but with added faster network capabilities.
OPPO Reno 5G comes with a 6.6-inch HD+ display as the flagship model. It has a full-screen notch-less display achieving a screen to body ratio of 93.1%. To achieve this display, the company had implemented a shark-fin shaped pop-up selfie camera on the top. The design and build quality of Reno 5G is pretty much identical to that of the flagship model, except for 5G branding on top of the triple rear cameras.
Under the hood, the OPPO Reno 5G is powered by a Snapdragon 855 SoC followed by 8GB of RAM and 256GB of onboard storage and also has microSD expansion. Despite the top of the line specs, OPPO Reno’s emphasis is on rear cameras as it features triple rear cameras comprising of a 48MP+8MP+13MP sensors coupled with 16MP sensor up front in the shark-fin structure. The rear cameras are capable of shooting with 10x hybrid zoom, which is the company’s first flagship capable of doing this.
Similar to the flagship model, the OPPO Reno 5G model also packs in a 4065mAh battery with OPPO’s VOOC 3.0 fast charging technology. Despite being 5G capable, the company had shipped the same battery capacity as the flagship model. The OPPO Reno 5G has been launched in China, for now, might expand to Europe since OnePlus had already launched its 5G variant of OnePlus 7 Pro and the Indian launch of the OPPO Reno 5G is said to be highly unlikely as the country still lacks 5G infrastructure.
