Hands-on
OPPO R7 Lite Smartphone Quick Review

OPPO has been in India for quite some time & you would have seen their TVC’s, Celebrity endorsements & also marketing through the Bigg Boss TV Series in India. They do not have a great presence regarding the sales, but that said, they are doing good enough to sustain in this competitive market. The last time we reviewed an OPPO Smartphone was their R7 Plus that came with some high-end specifications while today we are going to talk about their recently launched mid-range offering i.e. the R7 Lite.
The phone is priced at Rs 18000 making it a hard sell by looking at the price, which when compared with the other devices at the same pricing, ref to Motorola Moto X Play & the OnePlus X. The device is a smaller version of the R7 Plus, weighing just 143 grams with a thickness of 6.3 mm that’s one of the Wow Factor. Let us get into different aspects of the phone & talk about the Pro’s & Con’s about the same.
Talking about the Good stuff, the Phone comes with a 5″ AMOLED Display with 1280×720 resolution protected with the Corning Gorilla Glass 3 that ensures your phone can easily manage all the drops & dents easily. It has a good color reproduction & the placement of the buttons is perfect because there’s no confusion on the Volume Rockers or the Power Button since they are placed on the opposite sides. All thanks to the slim profile you would love to use the phone without having a case on it while the metal rim on the sides gives you a good feel ensuring that the phone is not easily prone to damages.

The Phone comes with a 13MP Camera along with a single LED Flash that’s capable of capturing good photos, a few samples here can tell you more on the same. The camera is capable of capturing 13MP photos in 4:3 aspect ratio, while in the 16:9 you can capture photos in the 10MP resolution. Regarding Video, you can capture upto 1080p quality videos, with the option of Slow-mo where the videos would be slowed by 1.4x or say 25% of the regular speed. Other features of the Camera include the Ultra HD Mode, GIF Creation, Beautify, HDR, Slow Shutter & Colourful Night.

With the right screen size of 5″ the phone is easy to use single-handed along with the slim profile making it one of the most comfortable phones available right now. The device is powered with a Snapdragon 615 Soc, 2GB RAM, Micro SD Card support upto 128 GB along with an internal storage of 16 GB. You also get the Hybrid SIM option where you can use two SIM Cards at the same time or replace one of those with the Micro-SD Card.

In the Software department, the device is running on the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop that’s modified and skinned with the Colour OS 2.1 giving it a unique look but something that needs time to get habituated with. Regarding the performance, there are not many complaints about this device but we wished that OPPO would have done some better customization on the Colour OS because it’s hard to remember the settings & switch from another Android device.
Overall this Aluminium build R7 Lite is for someone who is looking for a stylish device along with a DUAL SIM feature on a light weight model. The best competition to this Phone would be the Gionee Elife S7 because of the form factor but that said with the other brands more active on Software Updates & competitive pricing, we think you need to take a call based on all these factors & then decide if this should be your next Smartphone or not.
