Update: Oct 2, 2015 – While the earlier leaked images of OnePlus X shows complete makeover of design from the previous smartphones from the brand. The upcoming OnePlus X features a new design but it may be different as shown in the leaked images. It is rumored to sport a 5-inch 1080p display along with Snapdragon 801 SoC that was recently used in the Lenovo backed ZUK Z1.
With the older processors, the company thinks to price the very aggressively which will be around $250. As per the leaks, the device will be unveiled later this month. The device will feature rear faced fingerprint sensor and dual rear cameras. Since OnePlus hasn’t confirmed anything, take them with a pinch a salt until we have a confirmed source.
Earlier: Sep 21, 2015 – There were few rumors about OnePlus launching a budget-centric smartphone before the end of this year. Carl Pie, co-founder of OnePlus had also confirmed a new device to be launched before Christmas. Today the fresh leaks suggest the device to be called as OnePlus X leaving the earlier rumored name OnePlus 2 Mini. As per the source, the device will be priced at $249 and the launch is expected in the month of October.
Though it is very early for the confirmation of the details regarding the upcoming OnePlus device. There are also a couple of renders leaked on the Chinese social networking site Weibo, suggesting the complete makeover of the design when compared with the recently launched OnePlus 2.
The device comes with dual camera setup on the rear of the device along with dual LED flash and fingerprint sensor. The OnePlus 2 came with the fingerprint sensor integrated into the home button placed below the display. On the bottom of the device, we can find the USB Type-C port with speaker grills placed on both the sides.
From the images, we can see the device to be built out of plastic with a metallic frame around the device. We are pretty sure that the device will be nowhere connected to OnePlus 2 or the upcoming OnePlus 3 since Carl Pie has already confirmed that there will be no other flagship to be launched this year.
We can’t believe the leaked images to resemble the actual device since the device in the images isn’t the actual prototypes. For the company like OnePlus launching a new smartphone isn’t a good idea when there are facing the production issues for the flagship device OnePlus 2.
Recently the company has apologized the OnePlus fans through a blog post saying “We know how it feels waiting and waiting for something you really want while being given ETAs that go unfulfilled.” With all these issue launching an another handset doesn’t make sense and that too in October.
Let’s wait for few more days, where we can see more details of the device coming out. Since these are all based on the leaks, take them with a pinch of salt until we have a confirmed a confirmed source.
