OnePlus Introduces OxygenOS – the new ROM to be unveiled on February 12th

OnePlus has finally answered the users and fans of its smartphones who were disappointed with the Cyanogen team’s decision to stop supporting the software side in India, and it is the new OxygenOS that is being made by the OnePlus team, and the release date is set for February 12th. The OnePlus One is currently running CyanogenMod across all the markets where it is selling, and India could be the first market when OxygenOS will be introduced.
As an element, Oxygen is the epitome of simplicity, yet it’s also extraordinarily powerful.
Oxygen is all around us. It’s part of us and everything we do. It creates the water that carves out valleys and moves mountains. By itself, it’s simple and pure—a fundamental building block. But, as a part of something greater, it can do amazing things. Just like us.
Together, we will do big things.
Stay tuned; more information is coming on February 12th.
And, as always, Never Settle.
There is no information whether the release will be OTA, and that is highly unlikely as the entire system changes and OnePlus earlier had mentioned about setting up centers where users can go and get the OS updated / changed by experts.
There was an alpha build of the ROM available earlier, and that was something similar to what OnePlus had promised – An operating system which is open, customizable, and free of bloat and unnecessary features. It is obvious that the new OS will come with Android 5.0 Lollipop OS version, and that would be a killer point against the major smartphone manufacturers, and even the CyanogenMod ROM makers, as the international version of OnePlus One (which runs CM 11s) is yet to get the official Lollipop update through CM12.
So far so good, we are already excited to see how well it goes, and whether OnePlus has been able to develop something good from their side. We’ll update the details on 12th Feb, when OnePlus is going to give a detailed overview.
