Nokia X6 Smartphone – Everything You Need to Know

At the MWC 2018, HMD Global launched the Nokia-branded Android One smartphones along with the Nokia 8110 VoLTE-enabled feature phone. While the company launched four new smartphones, only the Nokia 7 Plus came with the 18:9 display. Today, the company showcased the all-new Nokia X6 sporting the notch display. It’s interesting how fast HMD Global has embraced the notch design compared to the 18:9 aspect ratio.

Nokia X6 Showcased with 5.8″ Notch Display & Dual Cameras

Though the Nokia X6 comes with a display notch on the top, there is a bottom bezel with Nokia branding. The device comes with glass sandwich design with metal frame in the middle and 2.5D curved glass on either side. Both the power button and volume rocker are placed on the right edge. Unlike the international variants, the Nokia smartphones in China come with a customized UI.

The Nokia X6 comes with the model number TA-1099 and will be initially exclusive to the Chinese market. The large camera module on the rear sports dual rear cameras and LED flash. Just below the camera setup is the circular fingerprint sensor with chrome finish ring. It comes with the USB Type-C port and 3.5mm audio jack. While there is no official confirmation about the specifications of the Nokia X6, it could come in two variants.

While the Snapdragon 636 powered variant comes with 6GB RAM and the other variant with MediaTek Helio P60 processor offers 4GB RAM. It comes with a 5.8-inch display with Full HD+ (2160 x 1080 pixels) resolution and 19:9 aspect ratio. It will be running on the latest Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. HMD Global to Launch Nokia X6 on May 16th in China

Just yesterday, HMD Global showcased the all-new Nokia X6 alongside the other newly launched smartphones. While nothing is revealed about the Nokia X6 at yesterday’s event, the company today posted the device render with front view. Nokia also confirmed the launch date of the Nokia X6 as May 16th. As of now, the device is expected to be sold exclusively only in China. Even though the device comes with the notch display, it is expected to be priced under 2000 Yuan.

Unlike the other new Nokia Android smartphones, the Nokia X6 seems to miss out the ZEISS lens. From the images, we can’t find the ZEISS logo anywhere on the device. If the Nokia X6 comes out of China, we expect it to be launched as Android One device. Except for the Nokia 1 Android Go smartphones, all the other Android smartphones launched in 2018 are Android One devices. We can the expect the device to get listed on TENAA in the coming days.

Nokia X6 with Full Specifications Listed on TENAA

Last month, HMD Global had showcased the upcoming Nokia X6 smartphone at an event held in China. Later, the company also confirmed the launch date as May 16th. Today, the Nokia X6 with the model number TA-1099 got listed on TENAA. The Nokia X6 will be first Nokia-branded smartphone embrace the notch display. While we already got the first look of the device, the TENAA confirms the earlier leaked specifications.

The device comes with a 5.8-inch IPS display that offers Full HD+ (2280 x 1080 pixels) resolution and 19:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood is an unspecified octa-core processor clocked at 1.8GHz. It will be available in 3GB, 4GB, and 6GB RAM variants with 32GB and 64GB storage options. There is also a MicroSD card slot for further expanding the storage up to 128GB. The Nokia X6 comes with Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box.

In the camera department, the device offers 16MP dual camera setup on the rear and a single 16MP camera on the front for selfies. On the rear, we can also spot the circular fingerprint sensor. It will be backed by a 3,000mAh non-removable battery and might come offers fast charging support. The Nokia X6 will come with glass back body and will be available in Blue, Black, Silver, and White color options.

It measures 147.2 × 70.98 × 7.99 mm and weighs 151 grams. On the rear, there is also a circular fingerprint sensor. We can also see the Nokia branding on the front and rear of the device. Both the power button and volume rocker are placed on the right edge.

As mentioned earlier, HMD Global has officially unveiled the Nokia X6 smartphone today in China. The device comes in White, Black, and Blue color options. It comes with glass sandwich design with metal frame in the middle. The Nokia X6 sports a 5.8″ Full HD+ (2280 x 1080 pixels) display with 19:9 aspect ratio. It comes with a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection on the top.

It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 octa-core processor clocked at Kryo 260 CPU and Adreno 509 GPU. The device will be available 4GB and 6GB RAM variants with 32GB and 64GB of storage options. There is also a MicroSD card slot for further expansion of storage up to 256GB. The device comes with Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box with customized skin laid on top.

Talking about the cameras, there is a 16MP + 5MP dual camera setup on the rear with f/2.0 aperture and dual tone LED flash. For selfies, there is a 16MP camera on the front with f/2.0 aperture. It is backed by a 3,060mAh battery and measures 7.99 mm thickness. The Nokia X6 features face unlock along with fingerprint sensor.

Connectivity options include Cat.4 LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, 3.5mm audio jack, and USB Type-C port. The device will go on sale starting May 21st in China.
