Nokia 230 Dual Sim – First Selfie Feature Phone Launched in India at Rs. 3,869
Update – One month after announcing the first selfie featured phone, Nokia 230 in the market. Today, the company had officially launched the dual SIM varisnt of Nokia 230 in the Indian market. It is priced at Rs. 3,869 and can be purchased from the compnay’s official website. The device includes a 2MP camera on rear and front of the phone and both the cameras are accompained by an LED flash.
The phone also includes an Alumium back cover that can make the exterior of device much stronger. Apart from India, this phone will be available only in other selected markets. It is available in White & Silver or Black & Silver color combinations. There is no information about the availability of the device in offline stores.
Earlier: Nov 25th, 2015 – There are smartphones that come with large camera sensors on the front and even few of them sport an LED flash for capturing perfect selfies in the dark. Recently Lenovo had launched the world’s first smartphone with dual selfie camera that can give DSLR-like depth of field effect. While the selfies cameras are only restricted to smartphones, Microsoft seems to prove this statement wrong by launching the first ever feature phone with front-facing camera for selfies.
While the Lumia series are rebranded as Microsoft devices, the feature phones still come with Nokia branding. The latest device is the Nokia 230 that comes with single SIM and dual SIM variants. Though these are not intended for attracting users in the western markets, but for the developing nations where there still considerable market share for feature phones.
The Nokia 230 comes with a 2.8-inch QVGA (240×320) display and runs on the Nokia Series 30+ OS. It has 16MB RAM and a MicroSD card slot for expanding the storage up to 32GB. The device comes with a 2MP rear and front cameras with LED flashes on both the sides.
The device is built into a polycarbonate body along with sandblasted Aluminum back cover. It includes FM radio, Facebook, Twitter, Opera Mini, MSN Weather and few other apps. Apart from the cameras, another best feature of the device is the 1200mAh removable battery. According to the company, it can give 23 hours of talk time on a single charge and can last up to 27 days on standby for single SIM variants and 22 days on dual SIM variants.
The Nokia 230 costs just $55 (approx Rs. 3,650) and will be available in India along with other Asian and Middle East countries starting from December. In early 2015, the company had also launched Nokia 215, the cheapest internet accessible device priced at just $29. This can be the good backup device for those who don’t want to carry a power bank for charging their smartphone all the time.
