We have heard of smartphones exploding before, in fact, we heard a couple of stories on this within the last few weeks. It Started of with Mi4i, then Mi 5. This was followed by the iPhone 6, and now we have yet another one from Huawei. Yes, this time, it is the Nexus 6P. A man who goes by the name yamz66 on Reddit, claims that his Nexus 6P exploded in the middle of the night while it was charging.
Sounds scary right? Well, according to him, it was around 3 AM and he woke up after a loud pop, to see himself surrounded by a dark smoke cloud. He also reported that he was using the same USB-C cable and charger that came in the box, and it was working just fine until this incident happened. So it is unclear as to how this happened since the investigation is yet to be done. So it is too early to comment on this as of now.
But note that, there were lots of speculation around the issues regarding USB-C cables, that some of them aren’t fully compliant with the standard. So this could be a result of that as well. So if that is the case here, then this could prove really dangerous since there are millions of users around the world using them. But as mentioned, it is not confirmed yet, and we cannot come down to any conclusion as of now. Meanwhile, it is also reported that the person also got in touch with Google Canada, and they will be sending him an RMA replacement unit.
So stay tuned for more info on this as we will update once we have any further info on this in future.
