OnePlus has recently launched the successor to its flagship OnePlus 6 – the 6T, last month. It featured a new notch design and OnePlus’s first on-screen display fingerprint sensor. Since this year is coming to an end, speculations and rumors are popping up about the next generation’s OnePlus devices already.

A new report has been surfaced online stating that there would be a new 5G OnePlus phone launching next year, which is not the OnePlus 7. The Chinese manufacturer after its successful launch of the OnePlus 6T with T-Mobile into the US this year is gearing up to launch a new 5G powered device with new name game alongside the regular rumored OnePlus 7.

In June, this year OnePlus CEO Pete Lau had reportedly said they were already in talks with the US carriers about launching a 5G equipped phone in 2019. Adding to this, the new report by CNET has revealed that this new OnePlus’s phone will be 5G enabled and slated to launch with a new name and an entirely new design. However, this will not be the successor to the OnePlus 6T but will be a new device altogether.

The report further states the next-gen flagship phones from the company supposedly the OnePlus 7 and its speculated ‘T’ variant would not be featuring 5G as it could potentially increase the production cost, which results in an expensive phone that technically beats the OnePlus’ motto of its ‘affordable’ price tag branding. Instead, the company is planning to bring in a new device with 5G support and expected to be showcased at Mobile World Congress (2019) early next year.
