Motorola Moto G3 gets official Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow Update over the Air

Motorola has started to roll out Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow for its Moto G Third Generation smartphone in India via OTA update. From last year in December, the brand has been rolling out Marshmallow update to its Moto devices, recently it updated the Moto X Play to the 6.0.1 version and today company has started the same update to its Moto G3 users in the country.
The update brings the important security changes to your phone, which you might not be aware of in the first place. Google has recently started to release month update to fix the security issue/loopholes on its mobile operating system. And this update can be told, is part of it. Motorola, who is always an early adopter of the fixes released by Mountain View, has done it again.
Though, the OTA update rolling out to users brings more than just as a security patch, it introduces some tweaks as well. After this update, you can launch the camera app by double-pressing the power button. Also, the company has brought back the camera shutter tone switch. Thus, you will be able to turn off the shutter sound from the camera app anytime you want, or switch back ON.
Apart from the security patch and changes to camera app functions, there are some general bug fixes done to improve the overall stability of the device. It is recommended that the battery life should be above 50% before you start downloading and installing the update. The size of the update is somewhere around 370MB, which might be a large size considering India still has the slowest internet speed penetration in Asia-Pacific. Also, it is recommend downloading the update over Wi-Fi, but not on 4G or 3G mobile data.
If the software update notification is popped up on your handset, then just tap on “Yes, I’m in”, the file would start downloading. After that you can tap on “Install Now”, the update process will start, it might take the time to restart the device after installation finished. Be patient. But if you haven’t received the notification yet, then you will have to check manually. To do that, follow these simple instructions. Settings> About Phone> System Update. After seeing the update window, you’d have to follow the procedure mentioned above.
