Motorola Droid Turbo 2 with Shatterproof Display & Snapdragon 810 SoC Announced

Motorola, the Lenovo company that had launched few decent smartphones in 2015 came up with a flagship smartphone called as ‘Droid Turbo 2.’ The device is the direct successor for the last years ‘Droid Turbo‘ and will be launched exclusively through Verizon on October 29th. As rumors suggested, the device comes with a shatterproof display that can easily withstand drops.

According to the company’s president, Rick Osterloh, it took them three years to bring out this new display technology, which they named it has ‘Moto ShatterSheild.’ The flexible AMOLED display of the Droid Turbo 2 has three layers covered on top it called as Dual Touch Layer, Interior Layer, and Exterior Layer. You also get up to four years of Display warranty.

It sports a 5.4-inch Quad HD AMOLED display and is powered by the Snapdragon 810 processor with 3GB of RAM. The device comes with a 21MP camera on the rear wth dual tone LED flash and a 5MP camera on the front as seen on the recently launched Moto X Style and Moto X Play smartphones. It will be available in 32GB and 64GB variants, where 64GB variant can be purchased through Moto Maker.

The device runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop with almost zero bloatware apps and will be updated to Android 6.0 Marshmallow in the coming months. It has a 3,760mAh battery that give up to 48 hours of mixed usage and also support TurboPower charging and wireless charging. The design of the device looks same as the Moto X Play.

It has NFC and 4G LTE support for better connectivity. With the help of nano coating, the device can withstand little drizzles but don’t dare to capture underwater photos since the device is not water resistant. The device will be available through Verizon stores starting from October 29th.

Talking about the price, the device will cost $26 per month (up to 24 months) for 32GB variant and $30 per month (up to 24 months) for 64GB variant. The Droid Turbo 2 is the first Droid device to be made available for customizations through Moto Maker. Without contract, the device will cost $624 and $720 for the 32GB and 64GB variants respectively.
