The current trend with smartphone launches is launching a Plus or a Max variant of the existing device. Device with large screens and powerful internals are what we are seeing on the market these days. Gone are the days of the compact devices with smaller screen sizes. The only company to still continue the trend as of now is Sony, as they launched the Compact variants of existing devices. But it looks like Motorola is going to do something about it. Yes, we have new leaks claiming that.
According to this new rumour that we have here, Motorola is going to launch a new device called the Moto M. It holds the model number XT1663 and it is expected to be the new compact variant in the line-up. The device was spotted on the Geekbench website. So let’s take a look at the specs that we have here.
The device features a 4.6-inch screen on the front with a resolution of 1920 x 1080. It is powered by a MediaTek MT6750 chipset carrying an octa-core 1.9GHz CPU. For graphics rendering, we have a Mali-T860 GPU. It packs 3GB of RAM and has 32GB of internal storage. For the camera, we are looking at a 16-megapixel rear facing camera and an 8-megapixel front facing selfie shooter. The device will come pre-installed with Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box.
There are other reports also claiming that there will a fingerprint scanner at the back of the device, just like other Motorola devices. So judging by the screen size and the mid-ranged specs, it is safe to say that it might just be a compact version. There are sources claiming that it might hit the market later this year. However, we don’t have any exact info about the pricing and availability of the device at this point in time. Stay tuned for more on this device as we will get to more about it in the coming days or weeks.
