Moto X Play with 21MP Rear Camera and 3630mAh Battery Officially Launched for Rs.18,499

Motorola announced the Moto X Play and Moto X Style on July 28 in the US. Today the company has officially launched the Moto X Play in India starting from Rs.18,499. The device will be exclusively available through Flipkart and pre-orders starting from today’s midnight. Though we earlier expected the company to launch the Moto X Style along with the Moto X Play, but there is no information about that device at the launch event.

The Moto X Play comes with a 5.5-inch Full HD (1920×1080) Display with Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Under the hood is the 64-bit Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor clocked at 1.7GHz, coupled with Adreno 405 GPU and 2GB of RAM. The device has launched in two variants one with 16GB of internal storage and the other with 32GB of storage. There is also a microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 128GB.

Coming to the camera, it has a 21MP rear camera with an aperture of f/2.0 and dual LED flash, it can also record videos in 4K resolution at 30fps and slo-mo videos at 120 fps. On the front, there is a 5MP selfie camera with an aperture of f/2.0. Compared to the Moto X style, the Moto X Play comes with a larger 3,630mAh battery and supports TurboPower provides 8 hours of usage in just 15 minutes of charging.

The device is also water repellent thanks to the nano-coating. It supports dual SIM dual standby and offers connectivity options like 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, Wi-Fi, NFC, GPS/A-GPS, and MicroUSB 2.0. The 4G can be used on both the SIM’s instead of anyone SIM on the earlier devices. The device measures 148 x 75 x 70.9 and weighs 169 grams.

It runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop with almost stock Android feels and no bloatware apps. The company included unique software features like twist to capture a selfie. The TurboCharger for the Moto X Play will be sold separately for Rs.1,000. The 16GB variant of the Moto X Play is priced at Rs.18,499 while the 32GB variant is priced at Rs.19,999. At sub 20,000 price range, the device offers tough competition for other manufacturers with high-end specifications.
