Android Wear to Debut in China with the Launch of Second Gen Moto 360 Smartwatch on Sep 24
Update: Sep 23, 2015 – Motorola has announced the second generation Moto 360 smartwatch at the September 8th event which is jointly held by Lenovo and Motorola. Today, Lenovo has posted an image on the Chinese social networking site Weibo suggesting the official launch of all new Moto 360 smartwatch. The smartwatch will be available for sale starting from 10 am (GMT+8) tomorrow across all the major online stores along with the Motorola’s official e-store.
For your information, along with the second-gen Moto 360, the Android Wear is also going to debut in the world’s largest smartphone market. The Moto 360 comes in two variants, one with a dial size of 42mm and the other with 46mm. The registrations for the sale ends today and the Moto 360 will also be available in different colors along with many more customizations which are possible through the Moto Maker that was earlier launched in May 2015 in China. This is new Moto 360 is compatible with all the Android smartphones running on Android 4.3 or later.
Coming to the pricing the 42mm variant is priced at 1,999 Yuan (approx $313) and 46mm variant at 2,199 Yuan (approx $344). The company is also offering few freebies as a part of the launch day sale. We expect the company to launch the Moto 360 in other countries on September 25th and will be shipped by September 28th. The company has already accepted pre-orders in most of the western countries. Earlier: Sep 3, 2015 – Motorola on a surprise note unveiled its collection of smartwatches at the IFA Expo in Berlin. It was not until next week that the launched was expected, but company stunned the enthusiasts with the launch of new Moto 360 on the first day of the IFA week. The Second generation Moto 360s essentially comes in three variants including a men’s version in two sizes, a women’s version as well as a dedicated sport version. Pricing for these new Moto 360s ranges from $299.99 to $429.99 while the company hasn’t revealed the price for the sport variant.
The wearable is said to pack upgraded specifications such as Snapdragon 400 chipset, and a special LCD display that is readable in direct sunlight. Yes, that’s correct, the company hasn’t moved on to the OLED display such as many smartwatch makers are using on their models. It is said that OLED displays are more efficient and have good legibility under sunlight. But let’s hope Motorola found its perfect LCD display this time.
The Moto 360s would be coming in two different sizes, 46mm and 42mm for men’s version. And the company is claiming the two day’s battery for large dial model while one and a half day for the smaller model. Charging is still done on the dock station that comes with the purchase of the watch. Though, the battery capacity on the 42mm size watch is 300mAh while the 400mAh for large 46mm size watch.
The men’s version is available in silver, gold, and black while the women’s version can be optioned with silver, gold or a rose gold. Moreover, with Moto Maker service, Company said that there are up to 300 unique looks you’ll be able to make with a combination of bands, colors, bezels, and sizes in all mix.
The Moto 360 sport would be coming with a fixed silicone strap as well as that special LCD display to read under direct sunlight. It is based on the 42mm size watch, although it’s bulkier than the standard watch. It is said to track distance and map your runs, as it comes with the GPS functionality.
The men’s and women’s Moto 360s are available for pre-order from company’s website starting today, but if you’re looking to get the sport variant then you’l have to wait as it will arrive later this year.
