Micromax arm Yu Televentures to Enter U.S. Smartphone Market in 2016



Micromax which is a 15 years old electronics maker in India is planning to follow the footsteps of ZTE. Earlier, ZTE announced a new sub-brand called ‘Axon’ in the US and its first device ZTE Axon sporting flagship specifications was priced very aggressively compared to the flagships from other manufacturers. while the same are followed for Micromax which is doing some great business in India. According to the Q2 market share report, Micromax is the second largest brand in India only next to Samsung & the co-founder Rahul Sharma was recently considering to launch their Online exclusive brand i.e. Yu in the U.S.

This week we did hear about their upcoming Smartphone i.e. Yu Yutopia through a few leaks & Yu Televentures have already seen a lot of success in the country. Primarily for the aggressive pricing model dubbed with CyanogenMod which offers a great experience to the users. Micromax which is the parent company already had announced about launching upto 48 per year to their portfolio & have already been doing that. Talking about the numbers a total of 360000 units of Yureka Smartphone were sold till April 2015 & considering they have launched 4 devices till date, the total sales should be around a Million devices till date.

The USP of Yu Televentures was not just limited to aggressive pricing but also offering doorstep replacement of the accessor or handset in 115 cities in India. Similar to what Apple offers ie Apple Care program this brand also offered a plan called as OneAssist Yu Assure plan where they not just offer assistance to their users but also device protection. Overall a brand which is selling Online Exclusive devices, better support to the users & features selected based on the users feedback which is promising & something completely opposite of Micromax.
