If there was any Indian smartphone brand that had not done much recently in the budget range of smartphones, it was Micromax, except for the last year’s Canvas Unite 2 launch. A few other devices were then launched, but none could actually stand tall against the likes of Xiaomi Redmi series, Lenovo’s budget A6000 and such devices. Micromax, finally, has come up with an answer for that – the Canvas Spark, launched in India for a price of Rs. 4999.
This is a Snapdeal exclusive product, just adding to the list of devices that are going on sale only on the online retailer Snapdeal. The Canvas Spark is the first Micromax device to be coming with Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box. The specifications are pretty basic, not really something that might be competitive to the others in the similar price range, as the device has a 4.7-inch qHD display (540×960 pixels) and is powered by the Mediatek MT6582 processor, with 1GB of RAM. It is a quad-core chipset clocking at 1.3 GHz, but we’ve seen some better performing ones in the price bracket.
While the MicroSD card slot is still there for storage expansion, the user will get about 4.10GB of free internal storage out of 8GB ROM. The Canvas Spark has an 8-megapixel rear and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, and there is a 2000 mAh battery packed in. Just to note, the display on the Canvas Spark has a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection.
Snapdeal is going to open the registration on 22nd April, and the first sale is going to take place on 29th April. Flash sales, the latest strategy used by some smartphone brands, is how the Canvas Spark is going to be sold through.
