Micromax Canvas 6 & Canvas 6 Pro with 5.5″ 1080p Display Launched

Micromax has announced a total of 15 smartphones today in India. The company also came up with a new logo and also its own online store for selling consumer electronics including smartphones, smart TVs, and LED Monitors. This is the third logo for Micromax while in 2012, the company had changed its logo for the first time after their debut.

Below is the list of smartphones that are announced today at the event:

  • Micromax Bolt Q381
  • Micromax Canvas 6
  • Micromax Canvas 6 Pro
  • Micromax Canvas Evok
  • Micromax Canvas Fire 5
  • Micromax Canvas Fire 6
  • Micromax Canvas Mega 2
  • Micromax Canvas Spark 2+
  • Micromax Canvas Spark 3
  • Micromax Canvas Selfie 4
  • Micromax Canvas Selfie 5
  • Micromax Canvas Unite 4

From the above list, only Canvas 6 and Canvas 6 Pro are launched at the event while the remaining devices will be launched in the coming weeks. Both the Canvas 6 and Canvas 6 Pro comes with a 5.5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) display and Gorilla Glass protection.

The devices are powered by Helio X10 octa-core processor clocked at 2.0GHz. While the Canvas 6 comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, the Canvas 6 Pro is equipped with 4GB of RAM but is limited to just 16GB of storage. Both the devices include MicroSD card slot for storage expansion.

The Around YU service that was launched with YU Yuthopia is now rebranded as just Around. The Canvas 6 and 6 Pro are first Micromax devices to come with Around features. Both the devices come with a 13MP rear camera with PDAF and f/2.0 aperture. On the front, the Canvas 6 has an 8MP sensor while the 6 Pro comes with 5MP front camera.

The Canvas 6 and 6 Pro run on Android 5.1 Lollipop, and there are a lot of bloatware apps preinstalled on these devices. They are backed by a 3,000mAh battery which we expect them to last for more than a day of usage. It has dual SIM dual standby with 4G LTE and other basic connectivity options.

Like the other Chinese brands, Micromax will be selling both these devices on their official online store starting from April 20th. The Canvas 6 comes in Gold color while the Canvas 6 Pro will be available in Black color. Both the devices come with the same price tag of Rs. 13,999 and are currently available for pre-order.
