Reliance’s LYF had launched its new smartphone under the affordable Wind series called LYF Wind 2. Earlier to this, the company launched the Wind 1, Wind 4, Wind 5, and Wind 6 smartphone. But the compared to earlier launched models, the Wind 2 comes with higher price tag of Rs. 8,299. It is also the most affordable metal build smartphone from the brand.
Talking about the specifications, it sports a huge 6-inch IPS display with HD (1280 x 720 pixels) display. Under the hood, the Wind 2 comes powered by MediaTek MT6735M quad-core processor coupled with 2GB of RAM. It has 16GB of onboard storage that can be expanded additionally upto another 32GB. There is an 8MP rear camera with LED flash and a 2MP front camera.
It supports dual SIM dual standby, and as seen with other LYF smartphones, it also offers 4G LTE along with VoLTE. With the VoLTE, the users can make calls using the LTE which will be clearer than the regular calls. It is backed by a 2,850mAh battery that might last more than a day of usage. The device also sports dual stereo speaker on the bottom edge.
Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, OTG, and MicroUSB 2.0 port. It runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop with a customized UI laid on top. The device measures 157.5 x 81 x 8.5 mm and weighs 223 grams. The Wind 2 is also eligible for Jio 4G preview offer that comes with unlimited free usage of 4G data, voice calls, and SMS.
The device also comes with one year of extra manufacturer warranty on top of the regular one year warranty. Xiaomi will be launching the Redmi 3S tomorrow in India. It comes metal build and is expected to be priced lower than the Rs. 8,200 price tag of Wind 2. Compared to Wind 2, the Redmi 3S comes with much more superior specifications and compact 5-inch screen size. Unlike LYF devices, there is no Jio preview offer for the Xiaomi devices.
