LYF Wind 1 with 16GB Storage and 5MP Selfie Camera Launched at Rs. 6,899

Reliance’s 4G smartphone brand LYF had launched a new VoLTE enabled smartphone LYF Wind 1 priced at Rs. 6,899. Earlier the company also launched Wind 4, Wind 5, and Wind 6 smartphones in the same lineup. The device comes with a polycarbonate body, and the textured back gives a nice grip to hold on. It sports a 5-inch IPS display with HD (1280 x 720 pixels) resolution and the Dragontrail glass on top protects from drops and scratches.
The device is powered by 64-bit Snapdragon 410 (MSM8916) quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz along with Adreno 306 GPU. It also includes 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 64GB via provided MicroSD card slot. The power button is on the right edge while volume rocker lies on the left edge. It runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop and comes with dual SIM dual standby support.
Out of the two SIMs, only one SIM offers 4G LTE connectivity while the other is limited to just 2G. There is an 8MP rear camera with LED flash and autofocus that can record videos at 1080p resolution. On the front is a 5MP front camera with different beauty modes and face detection. The device is kept powered on by a 2,300mAh battery that is rated to deliver 6 hours of talk time and lasts upto 460 hours on standby mode.
Connectivity options include 4G LTE with VoLTE and VoWiFi, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, and a MicroUSB 2.0 port. The Wind 1 measures 143 x 71 x 8.4 mm and weighs 125 grams. It will be available in both White and Black colour options. The consumers who purchase the device at Reliance Digital stores will also a get a free Jio 4G SIM along with unlimited 4G data, voice calls, and SMS free for three months.
The Wind 5 that was launched last week also came with MediaTek quad-core processor. It has similar specifications as Wind 1 except just 8GB of storage and slightly smaller 2,000mAh battery. While the Wind 5 is priced at Rs. 6,599; the Wind 1 with few better specifications seems to be a better device even with a slightly higher price tag. As of now, there is no information about the commercial launch of the Jio and buying the LYF smartphone is the only way to get a Jio SIM.
