Reliance’s 4G smartphone brand LYF has captured significant market share with the initial free Jio 4G SIM offer. While the Jio 4G SIM with Jio Welcome Offer is made available to all the 4g VoLTE supported, there isn’t much buzz about the LYF smartphones. Today the company announced that it has sold over 3 million LYF smartphones through just Reliance stores in Q3 2016 ended with September. The future of the LYF brand depends once the free Jio Welcome Offer is ended by the year end. Apart from Smartphones, the company also sells large screen LED TVs. Today, LYF also launched its new smartphone called LYF F1 Limited Edition in Mumbai. The device comes with a price tag of Rs. 13,399 and sports high-end specifications. It runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with almost stock UI. The device sports a 5.5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) IPS display with Gorilla Glass 4 protection. Under the hood is the 1.5GHz Snapdragon 617 octa-core processor coupled with Adreno 405 GPU. The F1 Limited Edition packs 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage that can be expanded upto 64GB via MicroSD card slot.
Talking about the cameras, there is a 16MP camera with PDAF and dual LED flash on the rear. For selfies, theF1 Limited Edition offers an 8MP front camera with wide-angle lens. It is a dual SIM dual standby supported device and offers 4G VoLTE with three carrier aggregation (3CA). The device is powered by the 3200mAh non-removable battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support. Just like other LYF devices, the F1 Limited Edition also enjoys one year of additional manufacturers warranty on top of the standard one year warranty. To use this features, both the device should have Jio4GVoice app with RichCall feature support. The built-in video player on this device will pause the playing video when the user is the not looking at the screen. This same feature was available on many other devices from the last few years.
The ‘Smart Ring technology’ increases or decreases the ringer sound automatically based on the indoor and outdoor conditions. A free Jio 4G SIM will come bundled with the device. The LYF F1 users can avail the Jio Welcome Offer with unlimited 4G internet and HD voice calls for free till this year end. Earlier this month, the company the latest smartphone in the affordable Flame series called LYF Flame 7s. It is priced at just Rs. 3,499 and supports 4G VoLTE for Jio 4G network. Just the LYF F1, the Flame 7s also come with Jio Welcome Offer and two years of warranty.
It sports a 4-inch WVGA (800 x 480 pixels) display with Dragontrail glass protection on top. The device is powered by Spreadtrum quad-core processor coupled with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. There is a 5MP rear camera with LED flash and a 0.3MP front camera. It runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop and comes with a smaller 1,800mAh battery.
