LG has officially announced the upgraded LG V30 and V30+ smartphones at the MWC 2018. As the rumors suggested, these devices will be offering AI-based camera features. The new smartphones are officially called as LG V30S ThinQ and LG V30S+ ThinQ. LG first introduced the ThinQ lineup at the CES 2018, and now we are seeing the ThinQ smartphones for the first time. They will be available in New Moroccan Blue and New Platinum Gray color options.

The LG V30S ThinQ and V30S+ ThinQ come with Vision AI that includes three new intelligent camera features called AI CAM, QLens and Bright Mode. Talking about the AI CAM, it is designed to recognize the subject in the frame and offer best possible camera settings. Currently, the AI CAM differentiate between eight categories including portrait, food, pet, landscape, city, flower, sunrise, and sunset. We have already seen the similar feature on the Honor View 10 smartphone.

Coming to the QLens, it can recognize the specific objects in the frame to offer shopping links, price, and image search. With the QLens, the user can also scan the QR codes directly with the built-in camera app. Talking about the Bright Mode, the LG V30S ThinQ smartphones can capture better photos in low light mode. Though there will be built-in Google Assistant, the LG V30S ThinQ smartphones come with new Voice AI feature that allows users to run apps and change settings just by voice commands.

While the regular LG V30 smartphones came with 4GB of RAM, the new LG V30S ThinQ smartphones will be offering 6GB of RAM. Coming to the storage, the LG V30S ThinQ comes with 128GB of internal storage, whereas the LG V30S+ ThinQ packs 256GB of internal storage. Both these devices offer expandable MicroSD card slot for expanding the storage up to 2TB. Other specifications will remain same on both the LG V30 and LG V30S ThinQ smartphones.

The devices will be featuring a 6-inch OLED FullVision display with Quad HD (2880 x 1440 pixels) resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, they will come powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 Mobile Platform instead of the latest Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform. On the rear, we will be looking at a 16MP standard camera with f/1.6 aperture and 71-degree wide-angle view and 13MP wide-angle camera with f/1.9 aperture and a 120-degree wide-angle view.

For selfies, the devices will be featuring the same 5MP front camera with f/2.2 aperture and 90-degree wide-angle lens. They will be running on Android 8.0 Oreo-based LG UX 6.0+ out of the box and will be backed by a 3,300mAh non-removable battery. Both the variants will be IP68 water and dust resistant and MIL-STD 810G compliant. LG will also include the 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC for better audio output. The devices will also support face unlock and includes a fingerprint sensor.

Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0 BLE, NFC, and USB Type-C port. The devices will be measuring 151.7 x 75.4 x 7.3 mm and weighs 158 grams. As of now, there is no information about the pricing or the availability of the LG V30S ThinQ smartphones.
