LG Starts Rolling out Android 9.0 Pie Update to LG G7 ThinQ, more devices to be followed

Well, we have been hearing about LG’s G8 ThinQ from few days and the companies last years flagship is now being updated to Android 9.0 Pie. The LG G7 ThinQ has started receiving the update in South Korea and expected to be followed globally soon, although any specific time frame has not been mentioned yet. The size of the update is 1357.52 MB and LG has also given the changelog of the same which are mentioned below.

According to the changelog, the device will be coming with a new gesture home button which will let its user drag up to view their recent history or drag left to right to view recently used applications. The update also brings tweaks like adjusting the setting of the media volume when the volume button is pressed. There are other features like “Sunset to Sunrise” setting in the easy-to-view mode and also a battery-saving feature to boost the battery life.

Along with the update, there is also a new dual app functionality which will allow its users to install a replica of a social media application which can be used with a different account. We can expect other bug fixes along with the update and a few tweaks here and there. According to a Reddit user, LG has also shared a list of phones which will be updated to Android Pie operating system.

The LG G7 along with the LG V35 will be getting the update in the first quarter of 2019 while the LG V30, LG V30S, and LG V40 will be followed in the second quarter. The LG G6, LG V20 and LG Q8 (2018) will receive the update in the third quarter and LG Q9 and LG X5 (2018) will get it in the last quarter of 2019. Do you own any of these handsets?
