LG G8 ThinkQ Confirmed to Feature 3D Selfie Camera for Face Unlock

LG has announced that its LG G8 ThinQ smartphone will be having a secondary front-facing time of flight (ToF) sensor that will be working better in ambient light compared to any other 3D technologies. The upcoming flagship model from LG which has not been announced yet is said to be coming with new features, and we will be knowing about the same on the launch event scheduled at MWC.
Although we have already seen ToF sensor on the Honor View 20 already that uses its ToF to map 3D objects in the real world and also adds body beautifications effects both in videos and pictures. ToF sensors actually work by bouncing the infrared light off the subject giving better images. This also improves the security levels of the for unlocking smartphone via face unlocking and also give more accurate background blur in the selfies.
It will also support AR applications and LG has not revealed anything about the G8’s software part yet. The sensor that will be used on this chipset will be Infineon’s REAL3 chipset and has promised to deliver a new level of front camera capabilities. Furthermore, the device is expected to feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC which will come with two rear camera support and also touchless gestures.
The upcoming flagship device from LG is also rumored to come with an attachable secondary screen which should be known in the next couple of weeks time. What are your views on this device from LG?
