Lephone W7 Smartphone with 4G VoLTE Support Launched at Rs. 4,599

In the last couple years, we have seen few smaller Chinese brands entering the Indian market. While some of them haven’t even sustained, the company like Phicomm are yet to launch new products from the last one year. The new Chinese brand called Lephone debuted the Indian smartphone by launching the low-cost Lephone W7 smartphone. It is priced at Rs. 4,599 and competes with the other 4G VoLTE enabled smartphones from the Indian brands. Even the Indian brands have access to the tier II and tier III markets for selling their devices, but the Chinese brands are mostly limited to the online stores.

Talking about the Lephone W7, it sports a polycarbonate shell as seen on the other low-cost smartphones. The device comes with a 5-inch FWVGA (854 x 480 pixels) display, and there is also a 2.5D curved glass laid on top. It comes powered by an unspecified quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz. There is also 1GB of RAM and 8GB of onboard storage that can be expanded additionally up to another 32GB. It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow based 360 OS and includes pre-installed 360 apps likes 360 Security and 360 Clone. There is also Dual App feature where the user can have two Whatsapp accounts on one single device.

In the camera department, the Lephone W7 sports a 5MP autofocus camera on the rear and a 2MP fixed focus camera on the front. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, FM Radio, 3.5mm Audio port, and a MicroUSB 2.0 port. It also offers 22 Indian regional languages support including Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Oriya, Sanskrit, Hindi and others. The device comes in Gold, White, and Black color options. The loudspeaker is placed on the bottom rear fo the device. On the front, we can see three capacitive buttons beneath the display for back, home, and multitasking.

It supports dual SIM dual standby but offers 4G LTE connectivity only on one SIM. The volume rocker and power button are placed on the right edge of the device. Recently, Micromax has launched the new Bharat series to offers VoLTE phones at very affordable price. While Bharat 1 feature phone is yet to go on sale, the Bharat 2 is reportedly launched in the offline market for just Rs. 2,999. Unlike the Lephone W7, the Bharat 2 comes with just 512MB of RAM which might not full functionality of the Android OS.
