By launching the Le Max Pro at CES 2016 in January, LeEco (formerly LeTV) became the first ever smartphone manufacturer to launch a Snapdragon 820 powered device. While the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Xiaomi Mi 5 that are unveiled last month at MWC 2016 are already on sale but the Le Max Pro is still not available to the public. Recently a new device called Le Max 2 (LE-X821), the successor for last year’s Le Max was found on Antutu’s Weibo page.
From last few weeks, there are rumors suggesting the launch of Le 2 smartphone in the month of April and we also expect the Le Max 2 to be unveiled on that same date. As far as the specifications are considered, there are not many differences between the Le Max Pro and Le Max 2. The device comes with a Quad HD resolution display and is powered by the latest Snapdragon 820 quad-core SoC. The device runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with customized eUI laid on top.
It has 4GB of RAM and screenshot shows the device has 32GB of storage, but we can expect it to launch in 64GB and 128GB variants also. There is a 21MP camera on the rear of the device while on the front is an 8MP camera for selfies. As seen with the Le Max and Le Max Pro, we might also see a 6.33-inch display on Le Max 2. Few rumors also suggest the fingerprint sensor will be hidden under the body by using the Qualcomm’s Sense ID ultrasonic technology.
The Le Max Pro is the first smartphone to come with this new technology that uses ultrasonic fingerprint sensor for better fingerprint recognition. While the Le Max Pro doesn’t have a hidden fingerprint sensor, the upcoming Le Superphones are said to feature a fingerprint sensor hidden beneath the body. Till date, there is no information when the retail units of Le Max Pro will be ready. Since the company is teasing the devices on Weibo with their features, we can expect the launch event to happen soon. Stay tuned for official details!
