The waterproof devices are very popular in Japan and Sony which is based out of the same country is one of those manufacturers that had adopted waterproof technology for most their devices. Apart from Sony, many of the other smartphones from local manufacturers like Sharp, Fujitsu, and Kyocera are also water-proof. Even though the device is waterproof, most of the smartphones can sustain only in fresh water, but now a new smartphone from Kyocera named Digno Rafre launched as the world’s first soap-proof smartphone.
This is because, most of the Japenese uses smartphone even while bathing. The company has also mentioned the device will sport a touch panel that works even with wet hands and on the back it comes with the self-healing material. The LG G Flex is one smartphone that used the self-healing material on the back.
It comes with a 5-inch HD display with dragon trail protection that can protect the display from falls. Under the hood is the Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor coupled with 2GB of RAM. It has 16GB of built-in storage space that can be expanded up to 128GB via MicroSD card slot. The IPX5 and IPX8 certifications make the device waterproof while the IP5X certification takes care of dust-proof ability.
The device is backed by a 3,000mAh battery that can give 790 hours of standby time. With the integrated 1seg TV tuner, the device can also be used to stream live TV. On the camera part, it comes with 13MP rear camera and a 2MP front camera for selfies. It runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop with customized UI. The connectivity options include 4G LTE, VoLTE, WiMAX 2+, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, and MicroUSB 2.0 port.
With the waterproof protection, the device feels thick in the hand measuring 10.1mm thicknes and weighs about 155 grams. It will be available in the colors – Coral Pink, Cashmere White, and Marin Navy. The device will officially launch on December 11th with a price tag of ¥57,420 (approx $465 / Rs. 31,000). For your information, the device will not be launched out of its home country and we don’t even expect this Snapdragon 410 powered device with $465 price tag might attract many of us.
