Jolla, the maker of Sailfish OS, had launched a couple of hardware devices to push its in-house OS. The company launched the Jolla smartphone and Jolla Tablet, but it failed to ship the tablet for those who pre-ordered. Though the company said to refund the money, it’s still not happened. Jolla also faced huge financial crisis last year where it couldn’t able produce the devices.

There are a couple of manufacturers who already announced to ship smartphones with Sailfish OS. Turing Robotics’s Turing Phone switched from Android to Sailfish OS citing the security issues. Intex is the another manufacturer which had announced its first Sailfish OS running device Intex Aqua Fish at MWC 2016. It said to be launched in April but haven’t yet made available in the market.

A few months back, the company raised $12 million in funding which makes them sustainable till the year end. More than selling the hardware devices, the company is intended to work on Sailfish OS and is looking to make money by licensing it. The Sailfish OS supports Android apps but doesn’t come with Play Store, though there will be few compatibility issues.

Now Jolla launched a new Jolla C Limited Edition smartphone that will be available only in 1,000 units. It will be available only for developers and enthusiasts from the newly announced Sailfish OS community. The device is priced at EUR 169 (approx $189 / Rs. 12,700) in Finland and will be only shipped to EU countries along with Norway and Switzerland starting from July.
