Jio Phone will be Made in China, not Made in India by Intex

by Karthik Iyer 20

Reliance Jio announced the new Jio 4G feature phone last month which is expected to take the whole telecom sector by storm. This feature phone will be available to purchase this month and interested customers can get their hands on one of these as early as August 15. However, before making a purchase decision, there are a few things which you need to consider and the most important being the manufacturing of these 4G feature phones.

At the AGM, it was reported that the Jio 4G Feature phones will be made in India. This, in fact, was the next interesting thing about the phone, other than the pricing. However, one thing which most people didn’t notice is the fact that these devices will be made in India starting Q4. This means that the units which will be available to purchase initially will be made in China, which is definitely not a bad thing, to begin with.

However, with recent news reports stating how few people are against purchasing Chinese products in India or boycotting Chinese products, are indeed something which can affect the sales of Jio phone. Do make a note that this might not be a deal breaker for most people, however, the fact that Jio phone will be made in China initially will alarm a significant amount of people and can potentially affect their purchase decision.

Do make a note that we are not against the products made in China. In fact, it is worth noting that still a majority of products like electronic gadgets, smartphones, etc. are made in China. Even if a label of a particular product reads “Made in India”, chances are that the parts were imported from China and they have been assembled in India. Definitely, this initiative is highly supported by a lot of brands and manufacturers and in fact, it should be supported by all since it has a lot of advantages and mainly it creates a lot of job opportunities as well.

Intex Launches Its First 4G VoLTE Feature Phone To Compete With Jio Phone & Others

Also, there have been reports in the past saying that the Jio feature phones which the company is planning to sell, will be manufactured by Intex Technologies. Yes, it was reported a couple of months back, that the Reliance Jio 4G Feature phones will be made by Intex Technologies and will be marketed and sold by Jio under their brand name. However, we don’t have any confirmation on this particular news whatsoever, and if anything all, it is suggested that you wait for any official info on this from the company.

And if you are in the market to buy a feature phone, it is suggested that you wait until all the options are out. There are a few reports which claim that Airtel is also planning on launching a feature phone to compete with Jio phone. In fact, even Idea cellular is making an unlocked 4G phone which will work any carrier unlike Jio phone, which can only be used with Jio. Having said that, we would really like to know your thoughts on this. Now that you know the Jio phone will be made in China, would you be interested in buying the new Jio phone? Be sure to head over to the video which is embedded above and let us know by voting in the poll.

  • There will be many options of 4G feature phone in a few months! So I think I’ll wait for 2/3 months then decide what to do and which one to buy!

I hope Jio starts manufacturing at least 80% of parts of the #JioPhone in India in couple of months! So that it can be availed by December or January!

doesnt’t matter to me, what jio is doing is good enough, it would have been better if phone was made in India, but still, good enough.

  • Boycott all chines products to save India from there bullying #fforfree

    • Santosh Sahni

Indian Government can stop importing made in China product. No need to Boycott Chinese goods.

      • Suraj Verma

Due to World Trade Organization no any country can stop importing from any country.

If Indian government do it. then according to the WTO, India will not be able to Import or export from & to any other company.

So dear.. only Indian people do it..Kab tak sarkar k bharose bethoge.
        khud bhi kuchh karo.

        • Shailendra Patil

Agree to Suraj – Kab tak sarkar k bharose bethoge.
          khud bhi kuchh karo !!

We blame govt for each and everything but we don’t take any step to stop such things..

Yes, I agree that we should boycott ALL Chinese goods including the PROPOSED JIO PHONE to be made in China. Everyone knows that China has become belligerent, antagonistic and combative against several nations on MULTIPLE border disputes; and totally hostile against India in almost all the issues of FOREIGN AFFAIRS. Their economic might , especially foreign exchange reserves of more than three trillion dollars , are THE ONE AND ONLY cause for ALL this egotism and haughtiness. Till their economic dominance comes down, they will not fall from the sky. On the other hand, Reliance Jio or its chairman- Mr. Mukesh tend to OVERLOOK all these facts, and simply concentrate on THEIR WEALTH-CREATION. Else, why can n’t Reliance Jio WAIT till ALL THE NECESSARY FACILITIES are available in India. The India Consumer, who has been waiting for so many years for such 4G FEATURE PHONE, can always wait for SOME MORE MONTHS or even YEARS. The Common Man of India is NOT AT ALL IN A HURRY; it is Mukesh and his Jio, who are in MIGHTY HURRY.

All his wealth creation is aided and abetted by Senior Sarshangchalak of RSS, Shree Namo!. But still you will vote for BJP

  • Sudha Raja

Jio Phone will be Made in China, and all our private information will be
in Chinese hand, it is a trap. Don’t fall they wont return money. They
will say some reason and the after sales service will also be bad. Wait
your operator will give a better plan.

  • Arjun Rodrigues

Well if a phone is made in India, most parts will come from China, I still wonder who will use the JIO phone, it won’t be those who use smartphones.

  • Siva Phaneesh Gupta

boycott Chinese products… why should we encourage our enemy? china is making money by selling their products in INDIA and using the same money to build CPEC in Pakistan and other borders around India.

I am happy with less features in my phone than helping enemy country to become strong. i won’t die if don’t buy chinese goods..

  • Aakash Prajapati

Sir I Don’t Important Which Country Production All Product & Gadget. I Like Value For Money & Performance & Efficiency. Bat Rahi Jio Ki Le Lenge.
Now Other Telecom Company Say Will Launch Features Phone. Its Truly Compilation. Kaante Ki Takkar.

  • Rahul Singh

Boycott all chinese and made in china products. I will wait to buy a Jio phone till the time they bring out a totally made in India phone. This is the least we can do as citizens when the Chinese are threatening us by using Indian money and when the Chinese are openly supporting Pakistan and pakistani terrorists as Hafiz Saaed. Come on fellow Indians. Let us teach the Chinese a lesson. Indian Govt. cannot openly boycott Chinese products or Chinese Companies as India has signed many International commercial and trade agreements. BUT we citizens can do it as the international agreements are not binding on the private citizens. Vande Mataram!

  • Srikanth Padiga

Boy cotton chinese products.has a citizen of india it my responsible to boy cotton chinese products, which make se vetal border disputes & supporting pakistan.we don’t give 1% chance to increase there economic growth from our side.we can wait still it mfg completely in india.jai hind.
