Apple had launched the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus at the ‘Hey Siri’ event held on September 9th. According to the company, there are more than 13 million units of latest iPhone’s have been sold in just three days after starting the sale. The Boston-based Localytics had clearly reported that the adoption rate for the latest iPhone 6S and 6S Plus are much lower when compared to iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.
Before to the launch of 2015 iPhones, the last year launched iPhone 6 has comfortably leading the 30% market share of iPhones globally. Based on the data, the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus are limited to just 1.9% of all the iPhones, while the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus had captured 2.7% of market share in the same period in 2014.
Talking about the bigger sized iPhones, the iPhone 6S Plus is more adapted than 2014 launched iPhone 6 Plus. From this, we can see the increase in popularity of larger screen iPhones in 2015. Comparing the latest iPhone 6S and 6S Plus, the 4.7-inch iPhone 6S has been adopted four times more than the iPhone 6S Plus. This can be expected because of the compact size and no major differences between both the models. The iPhone 6S Plus sports a larger battery along with added optical image stabilization (OIS) for the rear camera.
Seeing the complete share of iPhones in the global markets, the iPhone 6 tops the chart with 33.2%, and larger iPhone 6Plus has been limited to 4th place with 9.9%. Coming to the latest iPhones, the iPhone 6S with a market share of 1.5% stood at 8th place after the first week of sales and iPhone 6S plus at 10th place with a share of 0.4%.
The iOS 9 upgrades after the first two weeks of release is stronger with 47% compared to iOS 8 which is limited to just 36% of the devices in the same time frame. Interestingly, the iOS 7 had more upgrades than iOS 9; there are more than 60% of the Apple devices have been upgraded after the launch of iOS 7.
In the coming days, we can expect more devices to be upgraded to latest iOS 9. As of now, the latest iPhones are only limited to few selected countries, and once it has been launched in all the major countries, we expect the share of the latest iPhones to increase further.
