Huawei’s HongMeng OS is not for Smartphones, will continue to use Google Android OS

Huawei’s Senior Vice President and a Board Member have dropped a bomb saying that the upcoming HongMeng OS is not for smartphones and the company is planning to continue the use of Google’s Android operating system for its smartphones. We all very well aware of the fact that Huawei has been making its own operating system called HongMeng OS which was expected to be the next operating system for the Huawei phones after the US government ban.

The HongMeng OS was confirmed by the company soon after it was banned by the US government. And this upcoming OS is developed based on open-source Android. A recently concluded test also revealed that it was found to be around 60 percent faster than Android mobile OS. Catherine Chen has further added that the recently trademarked HongMeng operating system is for industrial use and the system has been in development from a long time.

She also said that HongMeng is a very secure OS since it has few lines of codes when compared to a mobile OS and has an extremely low latency when compared with an operating system on a smartphone. This operating system has been in development for a long time even before the discussion around finding an alternative option for Android OS. Recently, Huawei also said the HongMeng OS will be used in a wide range of products that will include routers, tablets, computers, network switches, and data centers.

Recently the HongMeng OS was also tested on a few smartphones and testers also shared their experience on the same but since US administration said that their firm can now resume doing business with Huawei Inder certain conditions, Huawei might have given a second thought on not using the OS for smartphones. Huawei also trademarked another operating system called as Harmony OS.

Nothing much is known about this new operating system which could also be a global name for HongMeng OS which we should be knowing more at the Huawei’s Annual Developer Conference scheduled next month.
