Just yesterday, Huawei’s sub-brand Honor has launched the new Honor View 10 AI phones along with the budget-centric Honor 7X at an event held in London. A couple of months back, Huawei launched the Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro smartphones in Munich. While we won’t be seeing any new smartphones from Honor and Huawei in 2017, the company might be launching the flagship Huawei P11 and P11 Plus smartphones at the MWC 2018 event. From the last couple of years, Huawei is holding the P-series launch event during the Mobile World Congress.
Both the Huawei P11 and P11 Plus will mostly come powered by the Kirin 970 octa-core processor which also features a dedicated NPU alongside the GPU. Now, we got some details about the cameras on the 2018 Huawei P-series devices. As always, Leica will be continuing to co-develop the cameras on the Huawei flagship smartphones. Till now, the Huawei and Leica partnership is only limited to dual rear cameras, but with the Huawei P11 and P11 Plus, the Leica will also work on the front-facing camera.
As seen on the Honor View 10, the AI-powered cameras on the P11 devices will also come with instant scene recognition feature. Instead of the dual rear cameras, Huawei will be offering triple cameras on the rear of the P11 smartphones. With three sensors, the device will be able to capture in 40MP resolution and includes 5x hybrid zoom. FYI, the current-gen smartphones only offer up to 2X hybrid zoom. We might also see some improvement in low light photography.
Talking about the selfie camera, the Leica developed front camera on P11 smartphones will come with a whopping 24MP resolution. Earlier launched Huawei P10 and P1o Plus smartphones came with a 20MP monochrome sensor and 16MP RGB sensor on the rear. While the Huawei P10 offered f/2.2 aperture, the P10 Plus came with even more advanced f/1.8 aperture. For selfies, the device came with an 8MP front-facing camera.
