Huawei Nova 5 Confirmed to Sport 32MP Selfie Camera

Update — Last week, Huawei revealed the Nova 5 Pro first look and key features. Today, the company confirmed the Huawei Nova 5 to sport 32MP selfie camera on the front. Even the Huawei Nova 5 Pro is also rumored to sport the same 32MP front camera. Both the devices will be coming with a waterdrop notch display on the front. While the official launch event will be held in four more days, we can expect the company to reveal more details in the next couple of days. Along with the Nova 5 and Nova 5 Pro, Huawei could also launch the Nova 5i and Nova 5i Pro smartphones.

Earlier (June 13th, 2019) — Huawei will be unveiling the new Nova 5 series on June 21st in China. As per the leaks, the company will be announcing Nova 5i, Nova 5, and Nova 5 Pro smartphones on that day. The Huawei Nova 5i is expected to be the same Huawei P20 Lite 2019 which was recently launched in Europe. On the other, the Huawei Nova 5 Pro will be the successor to last year’s Nova 4. While the Nova 4 came powered by the Kirin 970 SoC, the upcoming Nova 5 Pro will be backed by Kirin 980 SoC.

Talking about the Huawei Nova 5, it is rumored to sport the all-new Kirin 810 processor. While we are expecting to see Kirin 720 as the successor to 12nm Kirin 710 processor, the new Kirin 810 is said to be built on 7nm FinFET node. It is on par with the HiSilicon Kirin 980 and Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 which are also built on 7nm node. With the 7nm Kirin 810, the company seems to compete with the 8nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 and Snapdragon 730G chipsets.

As of now, there is not much information available about this new chipset. To know more about this chipset, we have to wait till next week when the Nova 5 series gets unveiled in China. Coming to the Nova 5, the device will most likely sport waterdrop display and quad camera setup on the rear. The Nova 5 Pro will be coming with a punch-hole display and might sport the same quad camera setup. The devices will be running on Android 9.0 Pie out of the box with EMUI 9 laid on top.

Along with the Nova 5 smartphones, Huawei is also expected to launch the new MediaPad M6 as the successor to MediaPad M5. It sports 2K display on the front with smaller bezels and comes powered by the flagship Kirin 980 chipset. As seen on its predecessor, the MediaPad M6 also sports quad speakers tuned by Harmon Kardon. Since there is no confirmation by the company about these details, take them with a pinch of salt and wait for the official launch. Stay tuned on Phone Radar for more details!
