In May this year, Huawei launched the Nova 2 and Nova 2 Plus smartphone in China. Both these devices are the successors to last year’s Nova and Nova Plus launched at the IFA 2016 in Berlin, Germany. The high-end Nova 2 Plus with dual camera setup was made available in Grass Green, Rose Gold, Streamer Gold, Aurora Blue, Obsidian Black, and Bright Black colors. Now in August, the company came up with the new Bright Silver colored Nova 2 Plus. It comes with mirror finished body that looks similar to the Xiaomi Mi 6 Silver Edition smartphone.

While the Nova 2 Plus was launched in 64GB and 128GB storage variants, the new silver variant will be available only with 128GB storage. It is priced 3099 Yuan (approx $465 / Rs. 29,600) and is already on sale in China. On the hardware front, the Nova 2 Plus sports same specifications as on the earlier launched variant. It supports dual SIM dual standby using the hybrid SIM slot where the user can choose between the secondary SIM and MicroSD card. The USP of the device is its 12MP + 8MP dual camera setup on the rear with f/1.8 aperture, PDAF, and LED flash.

For selfies, there is a 20MP camera placed on the front of the device. The device runs on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat based EMUI 5.1 out of the box. It sports a 5.5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) display with a 2.5D curved glass on the top. Under the hood is the in-house Kirin 659 octa-core processor clocked at 2.36GHz and Mali T830-MP2 GPU. There is 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage that can be further expanded up to additional 128GB via a MicroSD card slot. The fingerprint sensor on the rear can also be used for capturing selfies in the camera app.

It is backed by a 3,340mAh non-removable battery that can be fully charged in 105 minutes. The device also includes an AK4376 audio chip for offering Hi-Fi sound output. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth 4.2, 3.5mm audio jack, and a USB Type-C port. It measures 153.9 x 74.9 x 6.9 mm and weighs 169 grams. Till date, the company hasn’t made the Nova 2 devices available in the foreign markets. As seen with the first-gen Nova smartphones, the Nova 2 and Nova 2 Plus might make their global debut at the IFA 2017.
