Last year, Huawei launched four different smartphones under the Mate 20 lineup – Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro, Mate 20 X, and Porsche Design Mate 20 RS. At the MWC 2019 held in February this year in Barcelona, the company has officially confirmed to launch Mate 20 X 5G variant in the second half of this year. It will be accompanied with the Mate X Foldable smartphone which also comes with 5G support. The company hasn’t revealed any other details about the Mate 20 X 5G smartphone on that day. Now, the latest report suggests a couple of changes to the upcoming 5G model.
While the Mate 20 X came with a whopping 5,000mAh battery, the battery capacity on the 5G variant will be decreased to 4,2000mAh. Even though its smaller battery compared to the one on the standard variant, it should be good enough for regular usage. In comparison, the Galaxy S10 5G comes with a 4,500mAh battery. On the other hand, the company will be adding 40W super fast charging to the 5G variant of the Mate 20 X smartphone. The standard Mate 20 X comes with only 22.5W fast charging support. Apart from these two changes, both these variants should be offering the same specifications.
The Mate 20 X comes with a large 7.2-inch AMOLED display with Full HD+ (2244 x 1080 pixels) resolution and HDR playback support. Under the hood, it comes powered by the 7nm HiSilicon Kirin 980 octa-core processor featuring the new Cortex-A76 cores and 10-core Mali-G76 GPU. It packs 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage which can be further expandable up to 256GB using the company’s proprietary NM card (nano memory card). On the rear, it sports triple camera setup featuring a 40MP primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture, a 20MP ultra-wide-angle sensor with f/2.2 aperture, an 8MP telephoto sensor with f/2.4 aperture.
For selfies, there is a 24MP front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture placed in the waterdrop notch. The Mate 20 X comes with stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support and also includes 3.5mm audio jack. It runs on the latest Android 9.0 Pie based EMUI 9.0 out of the box. Unlike the other Mate 20 devices, the Mate 20 X uses the rear-facing fingerprint scanner. It also comes with IP53 certifications for water and dust resistance.
