HTC, the Taiwanese mobile manufacturer has released an Android Marshmallow update to the Desire 816. This update being rolled out to the Desire 816 Dual SIM users will upgrade the Sense UI 6.0 to 7.0. Note that as per the company’s Middle East website, this update is only limited to the consumers in Saudi Arabia.
The update being roll out to the Desire 816 users in two parts, first 54MB update prepares device to install the Android 6.0, while the second part is the actual big update of around 1GB, which brings array of Marshmallow features of the mid-range device. The change log includes a list of things like App Permissions, Now on Tap, Smart Power Management and Android Security update. These are couple of things that are mentioned on company’s official website.
It’s quite nice to see the company release the major upgrade to their two-year-old handset, which isn’t even close to flagship device regarding the specifications. Now that we have mentioned about specs let’s talk about it to jog up the memory. The Desire 816 dual sim sported a 5.5-inch 720p display with LCD2 Technology, and now we are hearing the facts that the new flagship, M10 or just 10, whatever they might be calling it would come with an LCD5 technology display.
The other highlights on the Desire handset that is receiving the update include Snapdragon 400 chipset, 1.5GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, 13MP rear camera and 5MP front facing the camera. The battery on his thing is of 2600mAh capacity, which is quite low. But then again, after this upgrade you might experience better battery life with Doze mode.
What other changes I would see on Sense UI 7.0? Well, apart from the updated firmware number to 3.12.401.2, according to what company has mentioned and what is the fact, you’ll see a teak in the Settings app. There will be a Memory section dedicated to monitoring the usage of how much memory are the apps is using.
