Honor 5A goes official in Malaysia along with the flagship model Honor 8. Now three devices have been launched in this series and the other two being Honor 5X and 5C. Noting the point that Honor 5A is the most affordable device from the lot and this budget friendly device will go for sale from 20th of September for a starting price of RM599. The device will be available on Lazada, Vmall and DirectID in Black, White and Gold colour variants. The back of this device is equipped with textures, unlike its siblings that came with metal built.
As mentioned earlier, the Honor 5A will come with a 5.5-inch HD touchscreen display and run Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS pre-installed with EMUI 4.1 on top. Under the hood, there is a Kirin 620 Octa-core processor with a clocking speed of 1.2GHz coupled with 2GB of RAM and Mali 450 GPU. There are a 5 MP selfie camera and 13 MP rear-facing camera with a f/2.0 aperture lens. The device will be supporting 4G LTE connectivity and has other connectivity options like, USB 2.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth V4.0 and 3.5mm audio jack. The Black and White colour variants are priced at RM 599 (Approx Rs. 9757) while the Gold colour variant will go for sale at RM 629 (Approx Rs. 10,246).
On the other hand, the flagship model Honor 8 will be coming with a 5.2-inch Full HD display and will run Android Marshmallow out of the box with Huawei’s on EMUI v4.1 on top. There is a Kirin 950 processor coupled with 4GB of RAM and to power the device there is a 3000 mAh battery on the back. The device will be available in either 32GB or 64GB variants, and there is a Hybrid Dual SIM tray that can be used to extend the memory up to 128GB. The device will sport a dual-camera setup with two 12MP cameras, and there is an 8MP camera sensor on the rear. The company has included RM300 worth freebies like Selfie sticks, powerbanks and cases for its first 300 customers.
The 32GB model of the Honor 8 is priced for RM 1,699 (Approx Rs. 27,676) while the 64GB model will be going for sale at RM 1,899 (Approx Rs. 30,933). The device come in Black and While colour variats for the 32GB model and Gold or Sapphire Blue colour for the 64GB version. The device will go for sale from 8th September and will be available via Lazada, Vmall and DirectID.

As announced earlier, Honor launched its latest entry-level smartphone Honor 5A today in China. It is the fourth smartphone in the Honor 5 lineup; earlier the company had launched the Honor 5X, Honor 5X Plus and Honor 5C, while only the Honor 5X was made available in India. The Honor 5C was priced at 899 Yuan while the Honor 5A costs just 699 Yuan. It comes with an alloy frame with a polycarbonate body and the textured finish on the back offers extra grip to the device.
The device runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow based highly customised EMUI 4.1 laid on top. It sports 5.5-inch IPS display with HD (1280 x 720 pixels) resolution. Under the hood is the Kirin 620 octa-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz along with Mali 450 GPU. It includes 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage that can be expandable additionally upto 128GB via MicroSD card slot. The device supports dual SIM dual standby and offers 4G LTE connectivity.
On the camera front, the Honor 5A features a 13MP rear camera with autofocus and LED flash. For selfies, there is an 8MP front camera with f/2.0 aperture and features built-in beauty modes. Connectivity options include 4G LTE with VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS/A-GPS/GLONASS, and a MicroUSB 2.0 port. The device will be available in White, Gold, Yellow, Pink, Blue and Black colour options. It measures 154.3 x 77.1 x 8.45 mm and weighs 168 grams.
It is backed by a 3,100mAh battery which the company claims to give 28 hours of talk time and lasts upto 260 hours on standby. The Honor 5A will be available for pre-order until June 16th, and sales start from June 17th in China. The Geekbench listing of the Honor 5A Plus revealed the same specifications as Honor 5A expect the processor. While the Honor 5A is powered by the Kirin 620 octa-core processor, the Honor 5A Plus will sport Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz.
Recently Honor also announced a virtual event of the launch of a new smartphone in Europe on June 20th. While there is any other information of the device that will be launched on that day, few rumours suggest the company to unveil the new flagship Honor 8 smartphone. Stay tuned for more updates!
