A few months back, Honor launched the Honor 8 and Honor 8 Smart in the Indian market for Rs. 29,999 and Rs. 19,999 respectively. Unlike the Honor 8, the Honor 8 Smart lacks the dual rear cameras and sports basic mid-range specifications which can’t even justify it’s Rs. 19,999 price tag. The recently launched Honor 6X sports slightly better specifications than the Honor 8 Smart and it costs just Rs. 12,999. However, almost three months after its official launch, Honor India will be offering 20% price cut on the Honor 8 Smart bringing the final price to Rs. 15,999. This new price will come in to effect from tomorrow.
Earlier: October 12th, 2016 – Huawei sub-brand Honor launched the most awaited Honor 8 smartphone here at a Press Event in New Delhi, India today. This is the company’s newest offering in the budget mid-range device territory, and it offers a great set of specs of the price point. However, apart from other specs of the device, the center of attraction is the dual rear camera setup which the smartphone sports at the back. Yes, more and more smartphones are now offering this, and it is definitely a welcome move.
Now talking about the specs of the Honor 8 smartphone, we are looking at a 5.2-inch full HD (1920×1080 pixels) display with 2.5D curved glass on top and Corning Gorilla Glass protection. The device is powered by Huawei’s Kirin 950 octa-core processor, which is clocked at 1.8GHz. The smartphone has 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage as well. It also comes with a smart co-processor i5 and a fingerprint sensor at the back as well. Do make a note here that the Chinese variant of the device came in three different variants with 3GB & 4GB options with 32GB internal storage as well.
Well, the storage will not be an issue since it supports microSD card to expand the memory. Now talking about the highlight, it sports two 12-megapixel rear facing camera at the back with f/2.2 aperture, pixel size of 1.76-micron, and dual LED flash. And just like the Huawei P9, one of the sensor captures RGB colors and the other one captures monochrome. On the front, there is an 8-megapixel selfie camera with f/2.4 aperture, which is good for video capturing upto 1080p resolution. The smartphone is kept powered by a 3,000 mAh battery.
And as mentioned earlier, the company also launched another variant of the Honor 8 which is called the Honor 8 Smart. As far as the specs of this variant is concerned, we are looking at the same 5.2-inch FHD display on the front. The device is powered by a Kirin 650 2GHz processor and comes with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage out of the box, which can be expanded via a microSD card. It sports a 13-Megapixel rear camera and 8-megapixel front facing camera. This device also comes with 3,000 mAh battery. Unlike Honor 8 this one is a metal smartphone.
As far as the pricing is concerned, the Honor 8 is priced at 29,999 INR and the more affordable variant i.e the Honor 8 Smart variant is priced at 19,999 INR. Both the smartphones will be available from Flipkart, Amazon India, & Honor Store. So if you are in the market for either of these smartphones, then this is the date to look out for.
