Honor 6X with Dual Rear Cameras & Honor Watch S1 Officially Launched in China

Honor, the sub-brand of the world third largest smartphone brand Huawei, has officially launched the long rumored Honor 6X smartphone today in China. The device will be the direct successor to Honor 5X that was launched in the first half of 2016. After Honor 8 and Honor V8, the Honor 6X is the third smartphone from the brand launched in 2016 to come with dual rear cameras. Unlike the other two devices, the Honor 6X comes with a 12MP + 2MP camera setup where the main sensor captures the images with full resolution, and the secondary sensor is used for calculating the depth in the images for bokeh effects.

The device comes with the model number BLN-Al10 and sports metal build body. It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with the highly customized EMUI 4.1 skin on top. On the front is a 5.5-inch IPS display with Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution and a 2.5D glass on top. It is powered by the in-house Kirin 655 octa-core processor clocked at 2.1GHz and coupled with Mali T830 GPU. It comes with 3GB/4GB of RAM and will be available in 32GB/64GB storage variants. There is also a MicroSD card slot for storage expansion additionally upto 128GB. The Honor 6X support dual SIM dual standby and offers 4G VoLTE for making HD voice calls.

The rear camera on this device comes with PDAF, dual tone LED flash and 6P lens. For selfies, there is an 8MP front camera with wide-angle lens. The fingerprint sensor can be found on the back of the device. It is backed by a 3440mAh non-removable battery that is rated to deliver 23 hours of talk time and lasts upto 650 hours on standby. Connectivity options include 4G, VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b / g / n, Bluetooth 4.1, and MicroUSB 2.0 port. It measures 150.9 x 76.2 x 8.2 mm and weighs 162 grams. The device lacks the NFC which means it cannot be used for Huawei Pay mobile payment service.

It will be available in Gold, Silver, and Gray color options. The Honor 6X with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage is priced at 999 Yuan (approx $148 / Rs. 9,900 ) while the 4GB RAM variant with 32GB and 64GB storage costs 1299 Yuan (approx $193 / Rs. 12,900 ) and 1599 Yuan (approx $238 / Rs. 15,900) respectively. The device is available for pre-order starting from today, and the sales start from October 25th in China. Just like many other Chinese launch events, nothing is mentioned about the availability of the device in the foreign markets.

Along with Honor 6X smartphone, the company also announced the Honor Watch S1 priced at 699 (approx $103 / Rs. 6,900). The strap of this new Honor Watch S1 can be replaced with any 18mm strap. It will be available in Vibrant Orange, Space Gray, and Navy Blue colors. The watch weighs only 35 grams. The heart rate sensor on this watch can continuously measure the heart beat. It is IP68 waterproof upto 5ATM which means it can be used upto 50 meters under the water. The watch is said to last six days with a single full charge of the built-in 80mAh battery.

The data can be synced with the smartphones using the Huawei Fit app. More than a smartwatch, it is a fitness band with additional features. It comes with a 1.04-inch b&w LCD display with 208 x 208 pixels resolution. The Honor Watch S1 can be used with smartphones running on Android 4.4 & above or iOS 8.0 & above.
