Google Home to Support Chromecast & Samsung SmartThings IoT Platform

Going back to 2010 when Google announced their first Nexus device, their own branded smartphone. Since then the Mountain View giant has partnered up with a multiple OEMs for manufacturing the Nexus devices over the years. Last year Huawei made the Nexus 6P while LG was asked to remade Nexus 5 into Nexus 5X to inline with new Nexus phone.

This year HTC bagged the rights to make new Google branded phones. Moving forward, Google decided to rename the line up as Pixel. Earlier the handsets were used to be Co-branded with the branding of manufacturer appearing, but with Pixel phones, you won’t see the manufacturer’s branding on the devices.

While Google is yet to make the official announcement, the leaks suggest that the only difference between the Pixel & Pixel XL would be about the size, while all specifications might be similar. Coming to the specifications talk, the Pixel phones would be powered by a Snapdragon Qualcomm 821 processor. The camera department would sport 12-megapixel sensor on the rear and an 8-megapixel sensor on the front. A standard internal storage option of 32GB would be provided. And of course, battery size would different.

  • Good to see Google is giving priority to India unlike Apple, Samsung!!

  • My first Android phone was Nexus 4 and then i have always purchased a stock Android phone…
Hopefully this time the prices be aggressive(HTC made phones are a bit on a premium price) unlike last year’s Nexus 5X!
And its good to know that Google will be launching Pixels as soon as 13th of October. As i know it’s a rare thing. India is always neglected in launching new phones with international launch. I know in India LG had officially announced Nexus 4 just 3-4 months before the international launch on LG Nexus 5. And i bought that and at that time all my friends were like what the hell is Nexus?

Starting at 57k for 32GB….real bummer…though the features are very tempting

  • Arpit Porwal

57K seems so much for a android device.

  • I loved the device a lot. But the price was a bit bummer… Lets see it in the review that are those worth the price?

Both pixel & pixel XL is trying to compete apples iphone 7 & 7 plus respectivaly in the terms of pricing as well as specifications also.
57000 Rupees for an pixel is not an good deal at all for indians there is lot of smartphones there in even 30k segment with more specs than pixel better to buy that. eg- one plus 3
but if yo are the nexus branding & pure android lover with so much money in pocket than go 4 it.

why even bother, just but a Note7 or iPhone7 or if u want a stock android experience go for nexus 6P even the camera is same…
