2017 is turning out to be an exceptional year as far as the smartphone launches are concerned. First, we saw the stunning new Galaxy S8 smartphones with the new infinity display. You can read the full review of the Galaxy S8 here. Currently, we are waiting for the OnePlus 5 smartphone to officially show up. Even the iPhone 8 is turning out to be a great device or at least that’s what the rumors are saying. However, amidst all this, there are a bunch of people of out there in the market who are patiently waiting for some info about the new Pixel smartphones to leak out. Well, the wait is apparently over now.
Yes, we have now spotted the new Google Pixel XL 2 smartphone on the GFXBench benchmark listing and it surely surprises us wit some of the specs. First of all, let;s talk about the display. There are a lot of rumors out there saying that both the Pixel smartphones will sport near bezel-less displays. While we can’t give any confirmation on that, it certainly looks like we will be seeing a taller display. The benchmark listing shows that the Pixel XL 2 will sport a 5.6″ display with a resolution of 2560 x 1312. This gives it an aspect ratio of 17.5:9 which means that it will be taller than usual devices.
Internally, this smartphone seems to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC which is an octa-core CPU clocked @ 2.4GHz. This is the same one which is powering some other devices like Galaxy S8, etc. It also carries the Adreno 540 GPU and 4GB of RAM. The Storage reads 100GB which makes us believe that it will have a 128GB variant as well. In terms of the software, this smartphone appears to be running on Android 7.1.1 OS, but we are sure it will be running the newest version of Android i.e Android O by the time it officially launches in the market.
In terms of the camera, we are looking at a 12MP sensor at the back, whereas on the front, we should be seeing an 8MP selfie shooter. Having said that, we would like to know your thoughts on this.
