Gionee Marathon M5 with 6020mAh Battery Launched at Rs. 17,999

Few days back we talked about a Chinese smartphone Macoox EX1 smartphone that comes with a 9,000mAh battery. Though the device wasn’t available in the market, we can see the device to measure around 15mm thick. But the Gionee which had specific Marathon series for providing higher battery life had officially launched its Marathon M5 smartphone here in India.
The Marathon M5 along with Elife E8 were first launched in China in July this year. Earlier to this, the company had launched Marathon M3 and Marathon M4 with a 5,000mAh batteries that have been go-to devices for the users looking longer battery life without compromising over the other specifications. The Marathon M5 has a 6,020mAh battery that can last up to four days on mixed usage.
Instead of a single 6,020mAh battery, the company went for dual batteries with 3,020mAh capacity along with dual charging chips that make the batteries charge fast and with less heat generation. By using fast charging technology, the device can be fully charged in just 90 minutes and a 5 minutes charging can give a little more than of 2 hours talk time.
Even with a such a huge battery, the device measures just 8.5mm thick and weighs 214 grams. Apart from the battery, it offers decent specifications like 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display with HD resolution and Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Under the hood is the 64-bit MediaTek MT6735 quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz. It has 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage along with a MicroSD card slot.
In China, the company had also launched a 2GB variant with 16GB of internal storage. On the camera side, it has a 13MP rear shooter with PDAF fast focus and LED flash; and a 5MP selfie camera with 82-degree ultra wide angle lens. The device supports dual SIM dual standby and offers connectivity options like 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS/A-GPS, and MicroUSB port.
It runs on Amigo 3.0 UI based on Android 5.1 Lollipop. The device is priced at Rs. 17,999 and will be exclusively sold through Flipkart. Recently launched flagship Elife E8 was also launched as an online exclusive device, but that time Gionee partnered with Snapdeal to sell the device.
