Gionee have had a great success in India with their earlier Smartphones launched following which they came up with new series in India i.e. the Pioneer; & the recently announced F Series. Last year the Elife E7 was the hot selling device from the brand especially for the Camera Department the review of which was published here. This year the brand came up with the Elife E8 that comes with some amazing specifications all bundled with in a 6″ AMOLED Display offering you a 2K resolution.
The device comes powered by 64-bit Cortex-A53 & Mediatek MT6795 Helio X10 octa-core processor clocked at 2 GHz. It comes with 3GB RAM and 64GB as its internal storage and can be expanded upto 128GB using an external SD Card. The dimensions of the device are 164 x 82.3 x 9.6 mm and weighs around 207 grams. It is a dual SIM smartphone and supports dual standby. The SIM cards supported by the device is Micro SIM card, and the slots are present on the either side of the camera on the back panel. The device has a fingerprint sensor on the rear side which can be used for a security lock instead of pattern and pin.
The device is pretty large to hold it comfortably with one hand but once you get used to it, its convenient because of the slim profile. What you would not like to do with this phone is taking calls & moving around with such a large device since that would look awkward. While we played videos & movies on the device, the experience was great especially if you play 4K videos. The device comes with a very optimised Amigo, which is smoother than the earlier versions & also comes with many new customisation options.
We liked the Chameleon app that comes as a pre-installed application on the Gionee devices because it accurately captures the background & then sets that as your phone’s background. Following is a picture which showcases that closely & this works with any background since the color picker selects the colour from the capture & sets it up.
The E8 comes with a 24 Mp Camera that has a Professional-Mode to capture photos in the expert mode where you can customise & set the ISO, Focus, ShutterSpeed, White Balance, Exposure Control, etc. Apart from this what’s more, Important is the Ultra-Pixel mode that captures multiple photos while you hold the device for a few seconds & gives you a 120 Mega Pixel resolution capture with a lot of details. The connectivity features available on the device are NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, 2G/3G/4G. It is powered by a 3500 mAh Li-Ploy battery, runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop and is available in two color variants i.e., White and Gold.
The Indian retail unit of the device comes with following accessories in the box.
- Elife E8
- Travel Adaptor
- USB Cable Type 2.0
- Two pairs of Ear Buds
- Flip Cover
- Screen Guard
- NFC Tags
